This is a 35-point list I played last weekend. Due to a faction bonus from the Windless Wastes map, I had an extra point to use.

Haley
Defender
Charger

Journeyman Warcaster (one bonus point for Warjacks due to Ironworks)
Hunter

Precursor Knights (min. size)
Precursor Knights Officer and Standard

Long Gunner (min. size)

Squire

Since I probably won't get the bonus next time, I need to shave a point. I'm considering three options:

1) Swapping Squire for Reinholdt.
2) Swapping the Hunter for another Charger and Reinholdt.
3) Swapping the Black 13th for a Gun Mage Captain Adept and Reinholdt.

It's not really all about Reinholdt, but he's the only one-point model I've got!

I'm keen to hear opinions.

I wouldn't drop squire as Haley can benefit from all of its abilities almost every turn, Reinholdt is of much more limited use to her. Swapping B13th for Reinholdt and GMCA sounds also a bad trade, your are swapping 4 mage lock shots to one, which has less special abilities than the B13th.

So from the options you have given I would go for number 2) as it sounds the best without knowing if you have any other ways of making the difference to the list.

I think you're right.

I suppose I could swap the Defender for an Ironclad plus Reinholdt, but I don't know that I like it any better than option 2.

That wouldn't be any better with Haley, I think you get a lot out of Defender in this list and precursors on minifeat turn can kick some bottom. If I were to change the list I would consider dropping the long gunners, but that is just personal preference. I have never gotten them to work as well as their point cost demands. They just seem too static for my play style.

I could swap the Long Gunners for a Charger, but Haley's feat and spells work much better with the unit than a 'Jack. Defender suits me better than Ironclad, and swapping the Hunter for the Charger and Reinholdt still seems the least painful route.

I agree. I would have changed the long gunners to some other unit, rangers for example, and then the list could be tweaked more. But as your models limit the list building options I think the option 2 is the way to go.

You list is a feat turn list. What i'd look to do is drop Junior. You need the other stuff pretty badly. The line of Precursor knights + long gunners is the basis of the Haley Turtle behind Temporal Barrier.

Can you live without arcane shield from junior? yes you can as Haley has the same spell. Squire gives you essentially 8 focus. So that's 4 for barrier, 1 to the hunter, 1 to the defender, leaving you 1 to upkeep shield on turn 1, so you still have 1 left from the squire. Give that to Charger.

On your feat turn you cast barrier, now you don't need to boost your attack rolls. So you pull from the Squire giving you 4 focus. On feat turn ignore the charger, you want to use the Hunter / Defender to decimate your opponents heavy jacks. Plus the Long Gunners having 3 CRA's while hiding behind knights your in good shape.

So Juniors 3, you shaved 1, you have 2 left? Bring Finn. 2 Chain Gun attacks is pretty nice, and he has the Trencher template to bail you out if you need it. He's goal is to gun down infantry. Then with your feat turn use the charger to walk forward and bog something down. Who cares if it dies if you stops a heavy jack from charging you, because if you don't end game on feat turn, just unload with more shots next round.

Honestly I would stick to option 2.

You have plenty of long range shooting in the list, the Defenders gun is more then enough to punch holes in heavy armor, then hunter is kind of overkill.

Instead, I would see JR with a charger to hunt down annoying solos that are trying to get in you flanks.

As far as Rienholt, he would not be my first choice with Haley, honestly if I have 1pt to fill I tend to favor my Stormsmiths. They are also good at hitting the High DEF solos, and disruption on jack is always awesome.

--------
If you like Haley, a completely different list to look at with 2 defenders would be with the ATGM and UA and Arlan. I wont get into the details here, but if you would like me to explain PM me.

Drop the Hunter for a Charger and Reinholdt.

You're Cygnar in Windless Wastes, use the free 2pt Merc. Pick up Carvolo to boost the Precursor Knights.

You want Haley with the Squire for that 16" Control Range.

I hadn't heard of him before but I might just have to find that little fellow. Thanks.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
A fourth option has presented itself; swapping Hunter and Charger for another Defender.

This didn't make the original cut because I lack the bits to make Defender number two, but I have ordered them now.

When I get the chance - and the model, I'll use Pirate Cove to employ Rhupert Carvolo as someone has suggested.

Better?

Rhupert Carvolo, Piper of Ord.

Plays songs to buff units, but really great on melee units. Since it is just music, even Precursor Knights can benefit. He knows such popular tunes as: You got Pathfinder, or You are Tough, or You inspire Terror.

It sounds like a really good idea.

Now if someone will just tell me how to deal with Windwall (or whatever it is that Vlad uses).

EDIT: It's a nice image, but we don't really need to see it again .

Aiyana gives Magic Weapons to a unit, it's how I assassinate pVlad (done it twice, always cute)
