Chaps,

Having not spent any money in GW (other then paint) in a long time i was curious as to the options in the space marines tactical box set, the 10 man squad,
i know that you get all three specials (flamer, plasma and melta) however do you only get a missile launcher as a heavy?
would i have to buy the entire devastator box just to get my HB fix?
Pete

yes, and yes.

However I believe the Dev box gives you 2 HBs.

Yep 2 HBs:

You should be able to see most (if not all) of the sprues on GW's site, if you go to the individual product's slideshow.

EDIT: don't make assumptions based on experience. This one was wrong

I stand corrected, my apologies. I guess I'm just spoiled then, because I've seen sprues for just about any model in my codex that I've gone in search of...

only newer sets have the sprues shown. Older sets do not have them. However there are a number of "how to assemble" articles where they do show the entire sprue of the models without them in the main product range (one example is the Chaos Terminator).

Here is a thread on the bolter and chainsword for nearly all of the space marine releases.

Warning: It's EXTREMELY picture heavy.

Don't they still sell the heavy weapon marines individually in blisters?

Three individual marines costs more than the Dev box. Granted you get 3 of the same weapons (as opposed to only 2) but it's better value, and it's plastic.

I have wondered this also since most of my figures are used and were built before I got them.

I tried that Bolter and Chainsword link, but some of those sprues are dated from what I can tell. Some of the posts are 3 years old too, and some of the pictures are hard to decipher. Wouldn't it be more helpful if we all just list what we know? (correct me if I'm wrong, but these are the sprues I have seen so far)

Tactical squad: plasma, melta, flamer, missile, chainsword
Devastator squad: missile, multimelta, 2 plasma cannon, 2 lascannon, 2 heavy bolter, powerfist
Scout squad: heavy bolter, combat knives, bolt pistols, boltguns
Assault squad: ?
Terminator squad: ?
Captain: ?
Dreadnought: ?

As far as I know all of the sprues you listed havent changed in the past half-decade, except for the Devastator squad. All of their prior incarnations were metal, so they're fairly up to date.

I haven't played nearly long enough to know, I remember my first tactical squad only had a flamer though and I have been playing about a year. But again, wouldn't it help the confusion if someone that knows just posts an answer to help noobs like me and the origional poster?

The tactical box comes with...

10x bolters, legs, torsos, helmet heads, sets of bolter arms, backpacks, bases

2x bare heads (one yelling one respirator I think)
1x flamer
1x missile launcher + ML backpack
1x chainsword
1x bolt pistol
Assorted random grenades, packs, and little bitz
1x sergeant backpack banner
Some number of scopes (I think 2 or 3?)
Some combat knives

It does NOT come with any of the good guns (plasma, melta, multi-melta, heavy bolter, plasma cannon, etc.)

This is from memory so pardon if I missed something.

Why the feth don't they just tell you on the box what you get? I don't understand this. It's all, "this box contains enough parts to make 5 scouts in a variety of ways". Rather than those extra pics on the back, just TELL ME what I get in the goddamn box.
