I know this may be bit of a obvious answer, but...I'll ask it anyway.

The First rank, FIRE! Second rank, FIRE! rule states that models firing Lasguns can shoot up to three shots at targets more than 12" away, and two up to 24" away.

Now...does this mean that the Storm Trooper 'Hot-Shot Lasgun' can do the same? I'm not entirely sure, and am stuck, as it DOES say 'Lasgun', but with Hot-Shot being in front of it, and am wondering if this would negate that order from being valid to Storm Troopers, because of the two simple words 'Hot-Shot'.

Just wondering here, and thanks!

Its a hotshot lasgun. Not a lasgun. FRFSRF does not work on it.

Oh I come from a land, from a faraway space
Where the caravan shuttles roam
Where the war is immense
And the fights are intense
It's barbaric, but hey, it's home

Imperium nights
Like Imperium days
More often than not
Are hotter than hot
In a lot of good ways

Yeah.

Games Workshop fluff says "The energy packs on Hot-Shots require more energy, and so cannot maintain such a high rate of fire..."

Or something like that.

A "hotshot lasgun" is a different weapon from a "lasgun", just as a "flamer" is different from a "heavy flamer" and a "hurricane bolter" is different from a "bolter."

Firstly:
It's three (3) shots at UP to 12" away (not further than 12") and two at between 12" and 24" (provided the unit were stationary). Rapid fire weapons rules+FRFSRF rule.
HSL are not Lasguns. They have a different profile and are different weapons (YES, that different AP value IS enough to make it a different weapon).
Pretty sure it was also covered in one of the FAQs.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Which really makes me wonder why they switched the name off of "hellgun". Yes, you'd have different stats for a weapon of the same name in two different codecies, but that didn't stop GW when it came to storm shields...

Yeah, that annoyed the beejeezus out of me when I first read the Guard 'dex, and then I was like, "Oh, maybe it lets Stormies work with FRFSRF." And then I read the eratta, and my appreciation of Games Workshop dropped a little more. Well, it would have, if I had any.

"I went into a hobby-shop to play m'self a game,
The 'ouse Guru 'e up an' sez "The Guard is weak and lame!"
The Chaos gits around the shelves they laughed and snickered in my face,
I outs into the street again an' grabbed my figure-case."
Oh it's "Angels this" an' "Space-wolves that", and "Guardsmen, go away!";
But it's "Thank you for the ordnance" when the Guard begins to play,
O it's "LOOK AT ALL THE ORDNANCE!" when the Guard begins to play.."
