I just completed a Slaanesh Prince with Wings model and I have been trying to come up with a configuration for my Daemons army that looks good without being a huge points sink. His role is obvious my CSM army.

All the tricks comes in at 235 or even 265! I may run him fully decked and trim from there but I was interested in any setups that may have been successful for others. Thanks!

I think Slaanesh princes work best, in a Daemon army, run fairly bare-bones, with Pavane, to pull opponents out of cover, and maybe iron hide/strength.

Wings on daemon princes are a luxury item in the chaos daemon codex.

I mean, he's modeled with wings so I can't make him walking. I'm thinking...

MoS, Flight, Hide, Aura for 185. This lets him charge into cover, resist some small arms fire, and get where he is needed. Thoughts?

I think he means, the model has wings, so he has to pay the points for flight...

But, if that's what you're doing, you're not going to get away cheap. He's a big threat, so the 5+ save might not be enough, and only T5, so massed fire will bring him down. Iron Hide is almost a must. Pavane will work like fleet for you, but that's an expensive fleet. If you've got wings already, I'd drop it.

Aura of Acquiescence will enable you to charge into cover while still using your superior initiative. Transfixing Gaze reduces the threat that the lone power-fist guy poses.

That still runs 195.... Wings are such a point-hog in this codex.

I'll try to keep him close to Fateweaver or he will go pop I'm sure. He was the only flavor of Prince that I did not have yet so I had to make him... now will he find glory? Thanks for the input Redbeard.

I really like Musk on a Daemon Prince. It really helps them to get around the place and prevents them from being tarpitted.

It's been my experience that you need Iron Hide, Soporific Musk, Aura of Acquiescence, and Unholy Might on him. Wings are great if you have the points, as is the pavane, as that makes him fly, "fleet" (sort of) and charge for a total of 19-24 inches THEN leave combat in your opponents turn to charge back in. Wings are expensive though, so best to leave them off. You definitely want the Musk Aura and Iron Hide though. Don't leave home without them

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

It also depend son your list. If you are assault orientaited you need the lash to give your other models "fleet" and yu usualy need the HQ slots for bolts of change in chariots.

4 Chariots, 3 Lash Demon princes, some blood crushers of khorne/flamers/the slanesh things and some decent troops and you have a list.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

My preferred Daemon Prince configuration in a Slaaneshi army is LIAH (Leave It At Home).

I've occasionally taken one with wings and pavane, but they're far too expensive and very fragile.

I assume you haven't had good luck with them? Because I have an amazing time with them: they usually end up dominating the table. Try it without the Pavane and wings, because the other gifts are better (and all together will cost the same amount). Pavane is great if you have an extra 30 points kicking around, but it isn't necessary. Odd as it may sound, I'd recommend taking The Masque instead, as she can put out 3 Pavanes (which is a 90pt value on its own) and then she's a 2 wound model with a 3++ and a large number of rending attacks. Is she great? No. Groundbreaking? No. Will she pull your opponents units out of position for your assault to ruin their day? 2/3 of the time yes.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I tested him out with Wings, Iron Hide, Aura and MoS. The rest of the list at 1500 was Fateweaver, 2x3 Flamers, 2x10 Horrors, and 2x10 Daemonettes. I played against a Tyranid player who was pretty inexperienced but the Prince was used as a flanker to try to draw away some of his MC's while the Daemonettes screeened and the Horrors shot while huddling around Fateweaver. After taking a few wounds off of his Tyrant with Flamers I was able to jump him with the Prince and take him down. The Prince also accounted for a Biovore and a few Warriors in that battle, throughout the battle he was outside of Fateweavers bubble but he took minimal shooting while killing most opponents before they could swing.

I think I'll try him out again with Musk so he can tackle infantry targets, as is he was pretty good at jumping lone MC's and multiwound models to finish them off. When he gets the charge with his Daemonettes backing him up they can kill lots of things before they know what's happening...

Thanks for all the feedback, I'll see if I can find a list/config to lock in after a few more games.

For anything Slaanesh, Soporific Musk is, IMO, mandatory. Being able to hit and run is just too just to pass up. Apart from that, Pavane and Iron Hide are all you need really..
