I paint mine with a green skin tone, then some blue tribal markings over some parts of the skin, like tatoos. Those armor pieces they wear, are painted rusty, then yellow over it.

So green skin, blue tribal tatoos and yellow armor. try that out and let me know what you think. That's tha way I ained mine, I'll look for a picture.

I don't think there's any official colouring as such.

You can pick whatever you like as long as it looks organic and offers some skin variation.

I would probably go for a subdued green or brown based colour scheme.

The feathers and spikes can be picked out with something different.

Some tribal style markings -- tattoos, warpaint, that kind of thing -- add contrast.

Here's a recent thread on the showcase about how I painted my Kroot:

I wanted a little more color without making them too gaudy.

I like to paint my Kroot purple. I start with a base coat of Liche Purple, wash with Leviathan Purple the Badab Black into the recess. Then the highlights are done again with Liche Purple and finally dybrushed with Warlock Purple. The yellow starts as Bestial Brown blended up to yellow. Grey/blues are Shadow Grey up to Space Wolves Grey. Hope it helps.
