Drop Trooper with Demo Charge

hey guys! i'm posting this in here and not the trade forum because i may not actually trade (i don't have the models yet), i just wanted to see if anyone would actually want to: if i did buy these things. well, here it goes:
to expand my army i was thinking of geting an IG battleforce, the thing is i don't need a sentinel but i do need another squad of dudes.
so, if i were to offer 1 sentinel (1 nos, 1 painted) and 1 pot of citadelpaint (to even out the price, your choice of colour) for 1 squad of imperial guard cadians ( nos) would anyone decide to swap?
if this belongs in the dakka swap shop forum, sorry but i thought it belonged in here because i'm not actually ready to trade, i just want to know if this is a resonable deal .
if i buy the battle force, i can use the command squad for my CC, mix the three heavy weapon squads into the troops and use 6 spare models (because i have to take two guys out of each squad to put in a heavy weapons team) from my squads as the latoon command squad, so you see it all works out
btw this is the list i'm going for, you can kinda see how the battleforce works in
P.S incase you didn't get it the first two times: I'm not trading yet!!! i still need to save up for and get the battleforce!!!!!

I may be able to help you without you really needing to trade. First off the 3 Heavy weapon teams come with 6 guard models. You only need to put 1 on each base(since the 2 guardsmen become 1 model). This grants you an additional 3 models from the teams themselves. Then you get to the units you are putting those teams into; this gives you 6 more models. That means the Battle force gives you 1 5-man CCS, 3 9-model Platoon infantry squads(including the 1 model/base Heavy weapons; you will actually be 1 model short on this). If you decide to make your CCS an Order-issuing, stationary squad, you can add a 4th Heavy weapon using the Heavy weapon bitz that come with the Heavy weapon teams(Missle launchers and Mortars do not require the tri-pod, but missiles are the better tactical choice). in order to add this 4th Heavy weapon you will need 4 things: a peice of cardboard, a razor knife, a pen/pencil, and 1 heavy weapon base, just trace the base onto the cardboard(or similar material) and cut it out. Now, for your PCS you can achieve this with 1 extra small purchase: the 5-model Cadians box for $8.25usd. This will give you 5 basic lasgun equipped guardsmen in 2-piece snap-togethers, so you can model your PCS out of the full multi-part kit. Total cost is a mere $103.25usd. The only issue here is that you still do not have a legal army(only 1 HQ and 1 Troops choice). There is another thing you can do with some of the Heavy weapon teams bitz: cut out a cardboard base as I described earlier. Then take 2 bi-pods, and glue them to the underside of 1 autocannon(1 right in front of the tri-pod connection point, and 1 right behind the charger lever), then take one of the spare Vox-caster backpacks and glue it onto the back of the AC(the rectangular bit that the gaurdsman's trigger handles attaches to fits perfectly inside the back-mounting hole). You now have a "remote controlled AC". Unfortunately the AC is the only one this works well with. P.S. if you are limited on funds; IG is not the best army choice; an all infantry force is generally over 100 models so at least $300, mechanised forces are generally even more expensive. The best budget Army is one of the Space marines(Blood angels can field some incredibly low model count armies that are actually fairly playable).

Hate to say it, but those sentinels really aren't worth a whole lot to anyone. Most IG players (like myself) built their armies with battleforce boxes as well, and are literally swimming in useless sentinel sprues.
That being said, a battleforce or three is a good way to start, then get some rides for your guys. After that, just get the Command Squad boxes or Shock Troop boxes as needed to fill out your force.
Oh, and never pay more than 20% discount on plastic models. You should also be able to steal a solid army core on ebay for about half price if you don't mind stripping (models that is...umm...if you don't mind stripping models...nevermind...)

aww, well at least i hope someone will be willing to trade
1 sentinel and a pot of paint is worth just as much as a squad of troopers... hopefully even if an IG player doesn't want it then an ork player will buy it from me to convert

I've already got 6 sentinels, and I like keeping a fast attack slot open for either a Valkyrie or a Hellhound!
Sentinels are ubiquitous, as has been mentioned. You could use three of them to build up a sentinel squadron, since you're already planning on one of them. I'd also switch around the Stormtrooper gear - put both meltaguns in one squad. I'd either make that a 10 man squad for coolness' sake, or drop the other squad. A flamer and GL are a waste of Stormtrooper BS and placement.
The platoon command squad with 2x melta and 2x sniper is worthless. Give them 4 of either and be done with it - if they're firing sniper rifles it's probably at something too far away to hit with a melta gun, and if they're shooting their meltas they're probably moving which means no sniper shots.
You should probably post this in the army list section to get some help, as your list is in dire need. Just don't take everything to heart, since I'm sure some WAAC types will gut your list and make it just like every other Guard tournament army.

i already have, i just posted it here so everyone could see what i was wanting to trade the sentinel for also, ill convert that small sentinel squad (that lone sentinel was a gift, i thought he was cool so i just decked him out, i later found out there were rules to WH40K lol.) to a scout sentinel, one armoured sentinel is no good. i just needed to fill the points so ill probably even just ditch the sentinel completley, split my fast attack to 1x vendetta, 1x vendetta, 3x valkyrie and pick up an extra chimera.
but still, this is not why i posted here, Would anyone trade for this? is this a fair trade? would i be better off on ebay?

It's a fair trade, dollar wise, but not many people are in the market for Sentinels. Once you have the battleforce, post a Swap Shop thread for it and see what turns up.

Sentinels are worth exactly tow thirds of feth all dollar wise...Like everyone has said there a tons of them already floating about on the net for next to nothing.
I would just build them and use them till you can replace them with better stuff the model is cool but just not very good in game.

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all. |
