It also means that the stock from Boxing day physical sales should clear the system. Which means they get reliable "made to order" requests instead of a huge number on the day followed by loads of cancellations as everyone ordered one before heading to the shops to see if they could get one.
That's nice, but 'that’s so that we can make this product Made To Order' isn't the same as 'that's so that we can make our lives easier after we changed our mind after receiving backlash on our FOMO plan'.
The delay is probably just there to decrease the impact of an unplanned made to order run on their normal production schedule. One assumes the terrain made to order that starts this week was all the plastic casting time they originally wanted to divert from making more Ultramarines.
