Okay gents, here's the list I'm planning to take to Vanquish 2011. The limit is 1,500 points. My army is Dark Eldar

Baron Sathonyx

3 Kabalite Trueborn w/ 2 Dark Lances
Raider w/ Night Shields, Flickerfield

3 Kabalite Trueborn w/ 2 Dark Lances
Raider w/ Night Shields, Flickerfield

5 Kabalite Trueborn w/ 2 Splinter Cannons, 3 Blasters
Venom w/ Night Shields, Splinter Cannon

5 Warriors w/Blaster
Venom w/ Splinter Cannon, Night Shields

5 Warriors w/Blaster
Venom w/ Splinter Cannon, Night Shields

5 Wyches w/ Haywire Grenades
Venom w/ Splinter Cannon, Night Shields

5 Hellions

Ravager w/ Night Shields, Flickerfield

Ravager w/ Night Shields, Flickerfield

Ravager w/ Night Shields, Flickerfield

Grand Total:- 15 Dark Lances, 5 Blasters, and 10 Splinter Cannons. There's also the various Splinter Rifles, Haywire Grenades, and Splinter pods as backup. There are 9 tanks and 32 infantry.

It's essentially a shooty mobile list. I have two trueborn Sniper Boats at the back of the field to act as pseudo Ravagers, and those, combined with the actual ravagers, should provide me with enough long range Anti-tank to take out any mechanised list bar the most numerous Guard ones swiftly. The blasters are the backup in that department. Ten splinter Cannons also sees me well equipped to stave off any horde forces that might make an appearance, and take out Long Fang squads and the like quickly. I have a minimum Wych squad on hand to tarpit and counter-attack as necessary as well.

I don't understand the Baron in this list. He has 5 hellions to ride with - it doesn't seem like an effective unit.

In my experience, night shields on ravagers do not pay for themselves. With armor 11, the only things you might out range with the shields and that have a chance of damaging you are heavy bolters and multi-lasers. While you certainly could run into a bunch of them they don't have good odds of damaging the ravager. Most of the higher strength weapons have 48 inches.

Have you had good results with 5 member wyche squads? I have not, the 5 do not tarpit well, 9-10 are needed (at least with my luck they are.)

The 5 Hellions are more there to count as a scoring unit and ride escort with Sathonyx. I take the Baron mainly for his effect on the +1 to deciding first turn, and the fact he can connect at Strength 6 with 4 attacks on the charge, meaning he's actually a competent transport killer in his own regard.

The wyches are mainly there to haywire grenade vehicles and count as an assaulty scoring unit. The tarpitting is a secondary effect allowing them to be multi-purpose. I could take a third warrior squad with a blaster for the same points, but to be frank, I have two squads of them already, and the wyches grant me far more tactical flexibility than just adding another clone squad.

And you run into the like of multi-lasers more often than you think at tournies......but its also nice for cutting the distance on effective melta range. Night shields are something I've always found in handy, in six years of having taken them. It's true, I could strip them away and save thirty points, but at that cost, I find they usually pay for themselves one way or another.

No more comments? I suppose this list must be perfect then.

If you have had success with this build then I can't say anything about it. I don't think it would play well in my area - the local meta is big on assault. I have to include on big time hammer unit to hold of the mass charge. It could also be that fact that my dice rolling is legendarily bad and I can pop a transport with dark lances, lol.

Do the 5 wyches wiht grenades do well for you. I've tried it and can never seem to pop vehicles with them - I rarely roll well enough with just 5 - I need 10 or 15.

Iam also making a Dark eldar shooty list.. this one looks a bit like mine.

I think those treuborn are a bit expensive. Those Darklances are heavy weapons and you cannot fly and shoot at the same time. I prefer splintercannons and let the ravagers and raiders do the tankhunting.

Your troops are very fragile. Dark eldar need to get in CC to keep their troops save but you got a shooty list and you need those troops for scoring.

I would drop those wyches because 5 are not enough...even for killing off those walkers with your grenades. Get more guns!!

Maybe you like this list:

(not sure about the hexrifles...I like the 'sniper pinning' but dont now if it will work...)
