Instead of creating yet another new P&M blog or dredging up the old Elysian topic instead I've decided to just throw it all into one big mess. To spare people massive walls of text I've decided to spoilerize them.
Here be Elysians, whom are NOT for sale and feth you, it's not even funny any more:
Spoiler:
Long time git, first time P&M blogger. This is a serious attempt at trying to document my rare moments of progress or smashing things together into something passable. Also, I'm hoping to harvest more and more neat and zany ideas from the others around here to further add to my army.
First off, a bit of info? My army was basically the D-99 drop list from Imperial Armour 4 - the Anphelion Project. I was aware that the list is more than a fair bit broken and useless, but I really love the background, plus the veteran composition of the army saves me the hassle of having to buy whole platoons of Elysians, something that would drive me most certainly insane. Frustration over sweet models aside, I really like the whole "spec ops" theme that the list has going for itself. The idea of having a small elite force of Guardsmen swoop in for a quick raid or lightning assault really appeals to me. Plus I've got a big mancrush over things like Gothic Serpent and other such airborne operations. Granted, these Elysians are fragile and brittle little men, but lalala I'm not listening to you WAAC witches. Plus I get to make up all kinds of neat names for "special" patterns of vehicles, which means squat in gaming terms but is still a nice touch. My stuff is mostly chosen and built around the infamous "rule of cool" (which has no official guidelines or rules come to think of it) and whatever pops into my mind at that moment. Hence an unarmed Valkyrie being turned into a medevac bird and my Sky Talon having fuel tanks instead of weapons underneath its wings.
Anyway, my army is called V-Company, which might stand for Vampyr if I can find proper decals for it. Failing that, it will stand for "Victoria" or "Victory" squadron.
Background(may be changed at later dates as I change my mind and see what future army lists might bring).
Veterans - sergeant with auxiliary grenade launcher, grenade launcher, vox, Demolitions (squad has melta bombs and a single demo charge)
Valkyrie - rocket pods & multi-laser
Veterans - sergeant with auxiliary grenade launcher, meltagun, vox, Demolitions (squad has melta bombs and a single demo charge)
Valkyrie - lascannon & hellstrike missiles
Fast Attack.
Tauros (2) - grenade launchers
Tauros Venator - hunter-killer missiles (2)
Tauros Venator - lascannons
Heavy Support.
Vulture - twin-linked Punisher cannons
Valkyrie Sky Talon - fuel tanks (count as Hellstrike missiles, but fuel tanks look more at home underneath a transport)
Total: 1994
Various equipment.
Four drop zone beacons
One drop zone transponder
One supply drop crate (a.k.a. "coffin") with grav-chute
I haven't got a lot of passable stuff to show just yet, so here are some WIP's:
My current allotment of Valkyries, Vultures and Sky Talon.
F.l.t.r rear: Hybrid Vulture with Punisher cannons, resin Vulture (unarmed as of yet), Sky Talon with fuel tanks and my WIP medical Valkyrie.
F.l.t.r front: HQ bird, first squad, third squad and second squad birds.
As I said I like the little details here and there to make things stand out. Like this passenger. No cutting or greenstuffing required, just build a model using one of those silly running legs.
Here be zombies:
Spoiler:
"Welcome to lovely.." you trail off as you and your friends quickly speed past the sign that bids you welcome to whatever place you are entering. It's been a long trip so far and you are all getting rather tired, a pint and a nice hotel room would hit the spot right about now. Surely this place has something like that? You'd hate having to spend another night in that cramped car. As you reach the centre of the eerily quiet town you come across what appears to be an accident between two cars, one of them burning. Everybody piles out to investigate and search for something to extinguish the fire with, noticing that strangely enough nobody is present, nor are the cars occupants nearby.
Someone screams in the distance, piercing the night for a moment as it is silenced as sudden as it happened. You all look round in confusion, not sure of what is going on, though there is a sinking feeling that things have gone awry something fierce. One of you spots someone in the distance, calling out with a friendly, if somewhat nervous shout. Slowly the person moves towards you, making you wonder what an elderly person is doing out so late at night. Awkwardly the figure moves into the light, arms outstretched and a dead look in its eyes. A groan issues forth from its slack, drooling mouth, only to be answered by more groans all around you.
With a shock you realize that it is a zombie! So much for that vacation by the lake..
I have a bit of a thing for zombies. Not in the necrophilia sort of way, but there's something about shambling corpses and their undying (ha!) desire for brains and flesh. For several years in a row now I've run an undead scenario around Halloween, using anything from the Mordheim rules with modified hero creation rules to a lite-version of 40k that pitted dead-hard Imperial Guard veterans against rotting heretics in a ruined city. Heck, I even managed to sneak an undead city crawl into one of my Rogue Trader games. Yeah, I've got a bit of an obsessive problem when it comes to undead and their application to games.
It's still a few month until Halloween so for this year I've been toying with for a long time now with doing a 28mm zombie scenario in the present day that isn't all grimdark or medieval nasty. I could go with one of the many available rule sets out there or with the delightfully funny Zombies!!! games, but I'd rather save money on the rules and write my own, thus saving me some money that can go into buying more undead. I'm still working on the rules, these will be posted in the relevant sub-forum once I'm done and once I figure out where zombie rules go.
But, fun and easy rules are only one half of the game. At least to me. A good game also needs a lot of models to go with it or else it won't work. Zombie-wise I've got a massive pile of GW zombies, three boxes of Mantic Zombies and another four boxes of Mantic Ghouls for some extra diversity in the mobs. Building these shouldn't be a problem, painting them is! Sprinkled in between will be the odd necromancer, crazy scientist and a few revenants for special encounters.
The undead hordes and other evil entities. Mobs and mobs of plastic undead - Mantic Games plastic zombies ??? - ???
??? - ???
??? - ???
??? - ???
Hero-wise I got most models from Hasslefree who have an excellent range of adventurers that are great for zombie and weird science scenarios. There's the odd duckling here and there, like the Ariadna Kazak and maybe the odd Warlord Bolt Action WWII model to represent the reenactor gone crazy. I've put up website previews of the models for now and will swap these with my own horrible paint jobs when I get to them. The characters listed below are sample characters based on friends, players can either pick a model or bring one of their own for the games.
No zombie game would be complete without a town filled with vehicles that they may or may not be able to use. After falling in love with Tamiya's 1:48 Humvee I went a bit crazy and bought a bunch more of their 1:48 military car kits, which will be pressed into service as civilian cars belonging to the locals. The Humvee belongs to a conveniently local US Army outpost that happens to have gone dark or something along those lines.
Right now I'm looking for handy 28mm / 1:48 scaled thingies to represent certain tokens. While I've got a nice pile of AT-43 Tactics tokens handy I'd much rather have nice little plastic, resin or pewter thingies to represent them. Stuff like medical kits, toolkits, gun chests, ammo crates, food supplies and a suitable thingie for holding holy water.
I'm also shopping around for a suitable 1:48 scaled tank model, preferably from the 40' - 50's or so, nothing too modern or fancy or fast. Suggestions are more than welcome!
Last but not least I'm looking into good and fun maps or buildings for the town and certain larger buildings with an interior such as the local supermarket, a large shack in the woods and an eerie ruined temple on a hill conveniently overlooking the cemetery.
Beep-beep, there's Raygun Gothic stuff here!

Here's one of the hero models, Mat the Veteran! He is represented by a Line Kazak from Infinity's Ariadna faction, which fits perfectly with the character, who is a war veteran. The model is armed with an assault rifle and body armour. The base is from Micro Art Studios Tech base range, good stuff all-round!
The Humvee almost done, waiting for the weather to turn a wee bit more gentle so I can spray the doors. Here's the model right now minus three doors and a cupola-mounted weapon system:
I've also found my tank for the game, which is a wee bit older than I would've liked, as I originally wanted a late 40's, early 50's thing, but when the local model kit store has a kit priced from €45,-- for €15,-- I'm not one to refuse. So now I've got an early war KV-1 from Tamiya, also at 1:48 scale. I squeed a bit when I opened the rather heavy box and found out that the bottom chassis is die-cast to give the model more "weight and realism":
And here we have her all built and ready for priming:

Subject: Re:Zombies 2011 - Humvee WIP's, first hero done, tank found and built
And here's hero number two, Mac, who fancies himself something of a classical hunter type, hence the khakis and gaiters. The model is based on a Warlord Games WWII US Marine (link in first post for those interested) with a plastic British head swap. Other than that, no changes. Basing not yet done seeing as I'm lacking proper basing materials (suggestions more than welcome hint-hint-hint!) and the model also requires some touching up here and there. Other info? The model was painted with a range of Vallejo colours and washed with Devlan Miracle, the metal on the Winchester with Badab Black.
Decided to throw everything into one thread, please check the first post for all the info. In the meantime, here are some snappies of what I've been busy with:
Reaper Dee-Dee Astro Girl and Khurasan's Evil Overlord as dashing Galactic Ranger Babylon Jones and Fraulein von Richthoven the 23rd, evil space Nazi Overseer from planet 88, because everything is better with Nazis as the baddies!
A trio of Elysian veterans that I've touched up and changed a few things about.
The first model is the original prototype for the army with Khemri brown uniform and Adeptus Battlegrey armour. The model has night vision goggles and a silenced carbine. It has no real table-top function other than looking neat.
The second model was sent to a friend so she could have an Elysian of her own, only the doll painted it and sent it back to me. The model is painted to represent an Elysian veteran based on the mythical SAS. The model has some minor modifications, including a custom silencer and a pair of night vision goggles nicked from a Space Marine Scout.
Third model is an updated colour version of the first model, with Brown Violet armour, black boots and a crapton of extra equipment stolen from Space Marine Scouts to denote the veteran part of these models. The head is from Rocket Girl and the arms are from the Empire militia set.
The first model has a shotgun strapped to his back along with a spare med-pouch and a rather oversized vehicle accessories sprue pistol holster, inspiration mostly came from Tom Clancy Rainbow 6 Las Vegas 2.
The second model has a spare lascutter power pack, cut down vox aerial and a Krieg shotgun ammo pouch.
The last model has a load of Space Marine Scout equipment attached to her webbing, including an assortment of explosives, pouches and rope.
Though kind of hard to see, the models have red lines running down their helmets, left shoulder guards and left knee guards, this is to denote that they have reached the lofty status of veteran within the Elysian hierarchy.
