Hey, I'm just starting an IG list, and have played a few games with them. I tied a couple and lost a few. Haven't won any yet, but I'm not big into the winning thing, just having fun (even though winning is fun). It's just the beginning of the list, and I plan on adding another command squad and/or chimera, and a leman Russ battle tank or two so I can get to 2000k. Im at 1584 right now.

(im running 1600pts with this right now, and i plan to have a Leman Russ or two, and another chimera and/or command squad)
6 Veteran Squads
- Each with 3 plasma
- each with 1 hwt
- each have vox caster
- doctrine for each is grenadiers (that or forward sentries)

1 manticore
- w/extra amrour
- heavy bolter secondary
- dozer blade (not sure if i need it, seeing as the manticore wont really be moving.

2 chimeras
- dozer blades
- extra armour (should i give camo netting?)
- heavy flamer secondary,
- mounted heavy stubbers

Company Command squad
- Power fist
- mdi pack
- regimental standard
- vox caster
- melta gun
- carapace armour (w/ camo cloaks?)

If I could get some suggestions on what to do, that would be great, thanks!

On a hate rampage.

WHERE ARE THE RUSSES?!?!?!??

This might just be me and my mad lust for bug guns and the word KABOOM but a good IG army should not be without 1 Full squadron of bog standard battle tank leman russes.

I'd personally lose the manticore and have said tanks.
Considering their powerful 72" ordnance hit, they are artillery in themselves, you see?? Executioners are fun too.

I knew it! im saving up for it, i can only get 1 big thing each month or two, cash revenue and economy things. But thanks for the tips!! those are at the top of my list, for making a 2k army.

I have only played three battles of 5th edition, but I've won all three, so take my comments for what they're worth ...

You can't have 7 veteran squads because the force organisation chart only allows for 6 troop choices.

I've never used a Manticore so I can't comment on that. You may want more chimeras -- two makes them easy targets, especially since you don't have a ton of other armour. That said, I won my last 1500 pt game with only three vehicles (a hellhound, a chimera, and a basilisk). I don't think dozer blades or extra armour are worth the points. Camo netting depends on what you're doing with the vehicle. Usually chimerae are moving around, transporting your troops -- they are not very good as static weapons platforms, so I wouldn't bother with that.

Right, firstly, taking 7 vets squads is highly curious. The only other thing nearly as much so is taking vets on foot without a mass of infantry platoons to protect them (or making sure ALL your vets are in chimeras/vendettas).

I'd start by dropping the illegal extra troops choice, all the docrines, all the voxes, and all the heavy weapons in the vet squads and start by giving everything a ride (or dropping a couple of vet squads and putting in some serious infantry platoons). Once that's all done, I'd use the extra points to get another manticore or two.

My bad, the guy before you mentioned the 7 troop choices. that was a a fluke of mine, i guess it was a typo. Thanks for the advice! i did a small match with my friend (1k or so) and i used an inf. platoon against his monstrous creature/genestealer list and wrecked shop. with your advice i'll go back to that
