I was looking over the Ork FAQ, and I saw this.
Q. If a Looted Wagon rolls a ‘1’ for “Don’t Press
Dat” what happens if the forced movement takes
them into friendly models, impassable terrain or
off the table?
A. The vehicle stops as soon as it comes into
contact with friendly models, impassable terrain
or the table’s edge
That mean you can park one front first against some impassible terrain or maybe some lootas and suddenly you have a pretty
stable gun platform.
Am I wrong? Everything I have read says looted wagons suck.

You can do this; a friend of mine had one in his 1k Adepticon team list a couple of years ago, and it performed okay.
The issue is that Looted wagons are just so inferior to the Battlewagon for most purposes that most people don't want to spend the HS slot on a LW.

But the thing is is that it counts as having moved at full speed even though it didn't move at all so you wouldn't get to fire a boom gun or the lootas inside if you roll the 1.

No it doesn't, it counts as moving as far as it actually did

Q. If a Looted Wagon rolls a ‘1’ for “Don’t Press
Dat”, but is unable to complete its move (or
even to move at all) because it is blocked by
something it cannot move through (friendly
models, etc), does it still count as having moved
for the purposes of shooting?
A. Yes, regardless of how far it actually moves,
the Wagon always counts as having moved at full
speed.
The very next question on the FAQ. They count as moving full speed and may not fire even if they do not move.

That is very true but it's too much of a risk to put a unit of lootas in there just to not have them shoot. It would be better just to stick them into cover.
Thanks Kel for the FAQ post. I knew I read it somewhere but couldn't recall where.

I run a Looted Wagon with the Boom Gun. I like it for several reasons. I move it along behind my boyz so it never gets outa control with Don't Press That. Boom Gun has a great AP which is usefull since its a blast weapon. Good Range. And quite frankly I don't give any orks any weapons that rely on there BS. And if it does move I can still fire the Boom Gun since you can move combat speed and still fire one gun. Course I play more of a Footsloggin army with losta boyz
FYI since I keep it so close to my boyz I gave it a Wreckin ball and two Big Shootas for support.... Ok the Wreckin ball is mostly just cuz its Orky.

Pretty sure it counts as moving cruising speed on a 1, not combat speed, regardless of distance travelled. COuld someone with the codex to hand reference it ?
As to the wrecking ball It's orky as hell, and all my ork vehicles have em, sometimes they are even worth it

The main problem here is that a boomgun is expensive, and the platform is relatively fragile and unreliable for such a powerful weapon. When I field this combo, it's usually bait - my SM opponent doesn't want S8 AP3 pie plates landing on his army, and throws everything he has at it. A KFF makes it more survivable.
I prefer to field looted wagons open-topped with a skorcha and a mob of shoota boyz. Perfect for taking tricky objectives - the skorcha flames the enemy (perfect if the objective provides cover), then the boyz run in, stomp the survivors and stay put. Nothing wants to get too close.
But I agree that they're a great unit.
