Hi guys,
During a game my opponent had a funny(as in not so) interpretation of a rule,
since it was late and not that important, i decided not to argue too much about it but i want
to clear out the issue for the future.

Here is what happened, my opponent moves an Ork trukk 19 inches (red paint),
as i understood the rules, a transport even fast and oppen-topped cannot disembark infantry
after moving flat-out and if it is destroyed the contained infantry unit is also destroyed.
After i destroyed the trukk he made his ramshackle roll which had the second result allowing it
to move an additionnal 11 inches and then explode.
At that point he said that the infantry inside the vehicule wasn't destroyed because the vehicule
expolded as an effect of ramshackle and not destroyed normally.

I looked in the brb and cannot find anything to that effect, unfortunately i don't have an Ork codex
at hand so i can't look there.
Any help would really be appreciated.

The flat out + destroyed = dead passengers combination only works in the player turn the vehicle moved flat out.

If he moved flat out into dangerous terrain and blew the roll, the trukk and it's contents are perished.
If he moved flat out and the trukk was destroyed in your turn, the trukk and it's contents aren't automatically destroyed.

Fast Transport Vehicles; p70.

Yes, he played it correctly as the passengers may only not disembark if it wrecks/explodes on the ork players turn. The BRB faq clarifies this issue (restates what the rules already were actually).

A fast open topped vehicle can only disembark troops if it didn't go flat out. If it goes flat out and is destroyed on its turn (per FAQ) the passengers are killed. (difficult terrain, or whatever, destroys the vehicle on his turn)

If you blow up his fast moving trukk and get a wrecked or explodes result on your turn you roll on the ramshackle table and appy the result there. As he got the Kareeen result he goes the stated distance and then the trukk explodes, dealing damage to its occupants and dumping the survivors where the vehicle was.

They are only instakilled if the vehicle wrecks itself on the owning players turn going flat out.

Its a tricky question...

no you cant disembark after flat-out

yes if your vehicle is destroyed in the turn you flat out the passengers are gone

some may argue that the ramshackle table is "its own thing" and that your doing that instead of normal rules - and on the table it doesn't say you loose your passengers. If for example he rolled a 6 it says the passengers get out unharmed and the vehicle is wrecked. In this instance i would say they do just get out unharmed despite speed because it clearly says they do and specific codex stuff generally trumps general BRB stuff.

I feel a little more dubious telling you that if it has a "kareen" or "kaboom" this would still allow the passengers to not be removed automaticly but as a logical leap its not really a big one so he might have been right, would love to hear what other people think though.

there is a second argument, GW recently FAQ'd what is meant by a "turn" - they defined it as a "player turn", as in i move, i shoot, i assult, thats one turn. you do all that too and thats another turn. there are two player turns in a game turn. so a game turn is a different thing, as it seems to imply and a "turn" the generic one described in most rules etc is the player turn...

keeping up? go read it on the GW site if you need to.

apply this FAQ directly to the rules regarding the flat out issue and it would seem to suggest you only remove the passengers as casualties if you destroy the vehical in YOUR OWN player turn. puzzeling.

i really dont think they thoght about the impact of that FAQ but still it says what it says...

im not sure i have really answeard the question but i would like to see what peaole think to what i have said there because it confuses the out of me.

you actually don't even need the FAQ.... all the FAQ does is requote the upper right hand side of pg 9.

Thanks,
another rule sorted out plus a second one as a bonus!
i really misunderstood that one.
I guess our ork player will be pleased by that answer being the only one around with fast transport he won't have to worry about flat-out anymore.
Our interpretation of that rule was disadvantaging for the Orks
Fortunately we played it correct for the last game.

He still has to worry about flat out..... but only if he flat outs through difficult terrain in his movement.

And frankly reinforced ram or deffrolla (for battlewagons) can help mitigate this worry, as they allow a reroll..

Actually he doesn't. Trukks aren't skimmers, so they will just imobilize themselves when crashing into terrain. The only ways to lose the trukks passengers are hitting it with a scattered blast weapon or ramming it into another vehicle.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

This is true... too used to playing nothing but skimmers! Thanks for the correction Jidmah.
