Ok so this is a twin linked question

1) does the plastic venerable dread have mk IV feet?

like this:
\ | /

2) if not does anyone know of a good tutorial to make the toes in the cruciform layout into the clawed foot? on paper it sounds easy but the cruciform toes are much too big to be rearranged into the clawed pattern.

The Ven-dread comes with more ornate version of the feet of the normal Dread. The only commercial way of getting those clawed feet are from FW's MKIV line. Dunno about how you'd go making them though. Sorry.

Heh.

There's an even easier way than buying a FW Mk IV Dread...

Lookit! A base just with those feet!

Sadly, it doesn't work with the DA Dread.

yeah i know of the FW ones, Im doing heresy era BA and want at least 3 dreads I wanna have variation between the three though, Im already using the chaplain dread from FW and I wanna get the mk IV venerable but also wanted to use a kitbash of the plastic venerable and BA furioso kit to make my third, seeing as how i've given up on FW making a cool Ba venerable dread like they've done for the ....erm ... :cough: ... lesser chapters.

oh yeah I also know of the base for the MKIV but I am doing an army themed as if its at the siege of terra. I am using the Back-2-basix gothic ruins bases and that one wouldnt really fit with the rest of my army, I know im being fussy lol.

lol. I said MKIV line specifically because of both that particular base and of the Dreadnought bodies themselves. Unsure of whether or not the OP wanted to convert or just wanted a MKIV dread.

I hate to break it to you, but if you're doing Heresy era BA...more than a single Dread is "unfluffy".

Dreadnoughts were rare as all hell during the Heresy.

I concur. While there certainly were dreadnoughts older than him, the Imperium's current oldest Dreadnought, Bjorn, was still fighting with his flesh and blood hands during the heresy. There wouldnt have been much of them.

I'm thinking the casualties of the Heresy wouldn't have been put into Dreadnoughts until after the Heresy was over. There just wasn't enough time for the chapters involved in the fighting to rebuild their forces while the fighting was going on.

I know it may not be overly fluffy but dreads are cool, I can imagine there may have been maybe 10 or so dreads across the legion I think there are at least 2 pictured and named in collected visions. I'm already sacrificing storm ravens, death company, death comapany dreads, LR crusaders and redeemers, Im probably not gonna feild all 3 outside of apocalypse but i still want em as i think theyre cool.

I actually think this is no longer true im sure the BA codex mentions a dread that was also alive during the Heresy says "Furioso's are the most venerable of all many bear the scars of the battle for the emperors palace millenia ago" this suggests that they were actually dreadnoughts during the Heresy whereas Bjorn was a marine at that time.

Think its a shame that poor old Bjorn has been usurped though.

The Dreadnoughts themselves were likely constructed long before the heresy, but the occupants were likely not that old. Bjorn's flesh is the oldest.
