Hi All

So I've been wanting to do my favorite founding chapter as a heresy era legion for a while, the idea being my best friend collects Chaos and we really want to fight the siege of the Emperors Palace in a year or so down the line,

I am going for a pretty authentic feel and am trying to get my force looking like its at the siege of terra right now.

The consessions I will/may be making are as follows:

1) backpacks- I will be using some of the forgeworld mk3-6 packs but I cant really afford to do my army entirely from forgeworld plus some of the BA backpacks are too cool not to use.

2) Weapons - I will try to stick to heresy mk weapons but again if the newer stuff looks cool I will use it.

3) Stormravens- I will be using stormravens purely because they will look cool and I want my BA to have arial capabillities and I cant afford 395 quid a thunderhawk.

4)Arms- I will not be paying attention to what mk arms my marines have.

I will however be making sure that my armour is on the whole comprised entirely of mk3-6 I will also be posting up a tutorial of converting mk 7-8 into mk 5 if there is interest in my work.

Some things i need help with are as follows:

Did heresey era BA have blue helmets for devs and yellow for assault or was the helmet colouring something that came with codex astartes? does anyone know a list of insignium/honours etc that were around during the heresy? I know the crux terminatus was introduced with the second founding or later but any other heresy do's and don'ts would be appreciated.

This will be a slow blog as I am a slow painter and have limited cash atm. I will post up my forgeworld Heresy devastator squad very soon but for now here is my test corvus marine

A mk6 (Corvus Pattern) Missile launcher



A Mk 3 (Iron Pattern) Lascannon, this guy was a bugger to fit the lascannon on around those gorgeous mk 3 shoulderpads and gauntlets so i settled for a "choosing a target" sort of pose



A Mk 5 (Heresy Pattern) Lascannon



A mk 5 Plasma Cannon



And finally my devastator sergeant in mostly mk6 (I have cut away the cables below the aquila and sculpted a single one going upwards ala mk 6 and am leaving you to assume that the aquila has been added over the top obscuring the 2 cables that come round the neck and down.



working on sticking my first tactical squad together atm then moving on to getting some painting and basing done (bases are comeing from oz so hope they will be here soon )

Sorry about the lack of posts, recently I've been busy and lazy .

I have the week off so hopefully I'll be able to post up my magnetised Baal predator, My Vanguard Vets and my Sanguinary Priest conversions.
