Im looking for a campaign to play with 1 other buddy. I saw warhammer fantasy has a supplement called lustria which uses a node based system that looks really good and I also like the Phoenix island idea from the 4th edition rule book. Does anyone know if there is a Lustria equivalent for 40k or if there are any clearer instructions for phoenix island. Or any other good campaigns that can be played between 2 players that wouldn't take forever. I dont think planetary empires will work but im open to it if theres a good way to play it with 2 people.

There's Planetary Empires if you want to do a real campaign. Otherwise you can just come up with your own series of escalating missions with some sort of persistence to get the campaign "feel" going. 90% of campaigns are houserules anyway; Jervis even says this in most articles introducing Planetary Empires.

Brother SRM has it in one.

If you're going to make a campaign, you'll probably want to hammer out your expectations of the rules first, before you start coming up with rules. I say this because I am a military historian, and as such, I would happily come up with a byzantine ruleset that covers logistics, lines of communication, deep attacks, operational and strategic reserves, and any number of things that would reduce my opponent to a confused, drooling mass just thinking about them.

"I went into a hobby-shop to play m'self a game,
The 'ouse Guru 'e up an' sez "The Guard is weak and lame!"
The Chaos gits around the shelves they laughed and snickered in my face,
I outs into the street again an' grabbed my figure-case."
Oh it's "Angels this" an' "Space-wolves that", and "Guardsmen, go away!";
But it's "Thank you for the ordnance" when the Guard begins to play,
O it's "LOOK AT ALL THE ORDNANCE!" when the Guard begins to play.."

The campaign in IA9: Badab part 1 is excellent. We will be using it for our next campaign.
