Greetings. I've been interested in 40K for a few years now and found out about this place through the Lexicanum. I generally prefer shooty armies and my favourite ones are the Necrons, Imperial Guard, and Orks in that order. I don't yet have any actual models, but I often find ways around that problem such as using Star Wars figures. If and when I decide to build a proper army, I hope I can find individuals on this site who can give me some advice.

Welcome to the Dak! Been interested for a few years and havent bought a single miniature? How do you restrain yourself!?!?! Id say its time to begin collecting your first army. If I could make a suggestion, Id start with IG or Ork....there are rumors of a new necron codex and models due out in the next 12 months.

4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4
1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress
800 points of unassembled Urban themed Imperial Guard
650 points of my do-it-yourself Tempest Guard
675 points of Commoraghs finest!

I look at the price tags

More seriously, when I say "interested", I mean that I was interested in the fluff about the various factions when I first heard of the game through Dawn of War. I just looked through the army lists on Games Workshop's website and the respective articles written about them. Until about a year ago, when I discovered the Bookery I didn't know where the get any miniatures other than ordering direct from GW. It was then I met a now good friend of mine who actually did play 40K and I decided to buy the codex for Necrons. I just bought the 5th edition codices for IG and Orks a few weeks ago.

Besides cost ( which is hard to justify considering the lack of other people in the area who are interested in the game), another reason I haven't built an army is because you have to assemble and paint the figures yourself. I have never had a fun experience with toys I had to put together. If I decide to take the plunge I will probably hold out for a new codex for Necrons or Tau, who I forgot to put on my list of favourite armies.
