I have 40 of the undead bone sticks to do and I was wondering if there any tips on painting the bone to get a real weather polished smooth effect? I've got enough 'unearthed' goodness from the zombies and I want the Skeletons and the Graveyard to appear neat and crisp, a stark contrast to the death and decay in the army.

What tips/advise has Dakka on this subject?

Well, sun-bleached bone always is more neutral-toned, ie gray than regular bone. Perhaps if you based your skeletons with Charadon Granite and gradually worked up to an extreme highlight of Skull White you'd get the effect I have in mind, which is something like this:

How fast are you looking to paint these? You could always just do them fast by priming them white and then washing them back down with black. Its definitely not spectacular looking but it finishes them fast

Just my 2 cents

Well the rank and file skeletons I was thinking about mixing up a batch of quite vivid white, spraying and then dipping black, but I agree the test one didn't look jaw dropping but perfectly fine for a rank and file.

Asrodig, I shall try that on the Grave Guard and other skeletal command models and see the results, although I run the policy of 'Everyone gets a basic paint job, depending on role and function. Excel and be rewarded with more of my spare time and a fashion upgrade'

Develan Mud over the whole lot (inc armour & cloth) then Gryphon Sepia over the bone

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!
