Subject: Cyberthreat, a D&D lite game. [PLAYTESTERS NEEDED]
As you all know, I had Metal Magic going, but have decided against doing that one; I don't know enough about Metal, and as I was pointed out, a game like it (Based on metal) already exists. This game is actually a MMO idea I had a while ago (You can dig up the old thread on it in the Video Games section).
The Design Goal of the game is to make a sort of D&D lite, or rather Gate-way game into Roleplaying/Skirmish worlds. Each player controls one character, like D&D, but it is handled more like a Skirmish Game, like Mordheim; The Players play together against a GM in one off fights instead of Campaigns (not saying Campaigns are out of the question). There is little worry about leveling (only 5), but much emphasis on unique characterization and also individuality. No "Class" is restricted to a certain weapon type, just various benefits/drawbacks, along with a special move that defines that "class". There will be a touch of MMO to it, but given it's background story, that is understandable.
ATTRIBUTES/SKILLS
Spoiler:
Skills are your abilities, Like how good you are in melee, shooting, or even throwing grenades. All Attacks are made on a single D6, a hit or a miss is based on your skill: If you are shooting a gun with a Marksmanship of 2, you will hit on a 5. If you are shooting with a Marksmanship of 5, you will hit on a 2!
Every skill starts at 1, and you get three (3) skill points upon character creation. You can increase any skill up to a maximum of 6, which grants you hits on a 2+ AND rerolls!
Melee: Determines how often your character hits with Melee Attacks.
Marksmanship: How often you hit with shooting attacks.
C++: How Successful you are at healing/buffs, as well as Crafting attempts.
Viral: How effective you are at resisting and spreading Viral Contagions.
Throwing: How effective you can use weapons like Grenades.
Attributes are your characters base stats. They can not be willfully after Character creation, though equipment will alter your Attributes, both positively and negatively.
Movement: How fast your character moves.
Your Character may walk his his Movement Value with a -1 Penalty to all Skills, or he may run double his Movement Value and take no other action that turn.
Base Value: 4
Health: Health is how much damage you can take before Deletion.
Base Value: 100
Damage Threshold: Negation of all Non Viral Damage you take.
If you have a DT of 15, and are hit with an attack that does 20 Damage (D), you will only take 5 damage; your just that tough!
You must always take 5 damage, regardless of modifiers.
Base Value: 5
Viral Threshold: Negation of Viral Damage you take.
If you have a VT of 15, and are hit with an attact that does 20 VD, you only take 5 D. However, unlike DT, if you are only hit with an attack that does 5 VT, you take no damage at all!
Base Value: 0
Awareness: Awareness is the measurement of how Tunnel Visioned your character gets during battle, a High Awareness means nothing escapes your sights for long!
You can only "See" targets within your Peripheral Vision (sides) Aware * 3". A standard Aware of 3 means you can spot enemies up to 9 inches away!
Basic Value: 3
CLASSES
Spoiler:
Classes are what type of Program you were before the Virus hit the Internet, corrupting many Programs and making many more Self Aware. They usuallly confer a positive and a negative effect, along with a special ability. Any Class can use any Weapon.
Gaming Program: +1 Move, - 25 Health
Special: IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZOR!
If a Gaming Program does not move in the movement Phase, it may declare "IMMA CHARGIN MAH LAZOR!", and may do nothing else that turn. At the beginning of his next shooting phase, he may declare "IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZOR!", which will cause his shots to deal 2x damage. Failure to declare the FIRIN will cause the CHARGIN to go to waste. This only works with weapons with the Laser Special Rule.
Search Program: +1 Awareness, -1 Move
Special: Search and Destroy
A Search Program suffers no penalty for moving, or running, and shooting.
Security Program: +50 Health, -1 Move
Special: Fire Wall
A Security Program may, instead of firing a weapon, activate his Fire Wall. No enemy within 6" may move, though they may shoot as normal.
Hacker Program: +5 VT, -5 DT
Special: Viral Bomb
A Hacker Program can throw a Viral Bomb at an enemy, damaging all in the area. The Viral Bomb counts as a Grenade in all respects, with the following Profile:
R: 12" D: 10 Special: Viral Damage, (Large) blast.
Social Program: -25 Health, + Nothing
Special: Social
A Social Program may provide a single ally with 6" +5 DT during the enemies turn. This can NOT be applied to the Social Program itself.
VIRUSES
Spoiler:
Viruses are the main enemy, though eventually Corrupted Programs, and Human Made programs will be added as well, along with PVP. You will see a Points Value on each Virus, I will explain that later on.
The Scourge Virus counts as a Grenade with the following profile:
R: 12" D: 30 A: 1 Special: (Large) Blast
Additionally, any Virus hit by the Scourge Virus is healed the full 30 health!
Viral: All attacks made by a CoRRuptor Minor Virus count as Viral Attacks.
Weapons and Armour
Spoiler:
Key:
R: Range in Inches that the weapon may fire
D: How much damage it does per hit/shot
A: How many attacks/shots you get per turn of firing
Re: The weapons Reach. The Higher the Reach, the faster you strike, so a Re: 2 weapon strikes first against a Re: 1 weapon, though at the same time as another Re: 2 weapon.
Cost: Cost affects what you can afford to buy, but other than that, it affects what your going to be up against, also.
Laser: Counts as a Laser Attack
2 Handed: Requires both hands to use effectively.
Fists: Requires no hands to use; you can have a Fist weapon, along with two others in each hand, unless specified in the Fists entry.
X/Y: X is the points cost for one item, Y is the points cost for the second.
Grenades: Place the Blast Template anywhere within range and then Scatter It using the Scatter Dice and a single D6. Subtract your Throwing skill from that D6, if it is a negative number count it as a hit instead.
BOOTING UP A PROGRAM
Spoiler:
In order to first Boot Up a Program, or rather create a character, you must decide which Program Type you want, as detailed above. Every Skill starts at one (1), and you have 3 Skill Points to assign to whatever skills you want. You can also name your Program and also add some backstory, if you wish.
You have 50 pts to spend on Weapons and Armor upon character creation.
Be Wary of your Point Costs, though! The player playing as the Viruses must see what your Point Cost is at the beginning of the game. The total Point Costs of all players is what determines what Viruses he gets to use, and how many. The Standard, lvl 1 Program is worth 25 pts in Viruses, with the equipment added worth it's Point Cost.
A program is worth 25 pts, but a Program with a Sheild, Laser Sword, and two Laser Pistols is worth 75 pts, allowing the Virus Player to bring 75 pts worth of Viruses to the table!
Turn Order
Spoiler:
The Virus side and the Program Side roll off to see who goes first.
Movement Phase: Programs/Viruses may Walk their Move value with a -1 Skill penalty, and may Run double with no other action being able to be taken at all (Exception: Search Programs)
Shooting Phase: Programs/Viruses may shoot their weapons/throw grenades in this phase, all weapons from one character must be targeting the same model
Assault: If a Program Moved, but didn't Run, it may assault in the Assault Phase it's Movement Characteristic, which begins HtH combat. No model may move out of HtH, and who goes first is determined by Weapon Reach.
When this is over, the other side gets to go through those three phases, after which it is given back to the other side.
Thats basically all I have at the moment, please tell me what you think when you guys get a chance to play it
