I know a Power Weapon is a weapon, so you see power maces on some models. Would it be ok, even in a GW tournament, to make a huge two-handed hammer as a relic blade? Relic Blade description says sword or axe... i dont want to get my hand slapped for doing it... it would be all GW parts except for the head, which would have an aguilla molded into it. What do you think?

I think that'd work absolutely fine, especially if you model it being wielded two handed. You just want to make sure it doesn't get confused for a Thunder Hammer.

I agree with Mannahnin. Although you could run into the problem of it being easily mistaken for a TH. Just make sure to make the hammer suitably ornate to try to make a distinction. Rules wise, I'd say you're all set.

well, the hammer will be huge, but the model will be hoisting it with one hand... but its obvious it'll be a two handed weapon.

This is the model. Jump pack won't be used. Everything above the skull on the rosarius will be removed, a small 3/8" extension of the shaft above, and then a solid stone head, approximately 1" wide, 1/2" tall, 1/2" deep.

I think it'll look fantastic. Just be sure when you go into a game to let your oponent know that it's a relic blade. Clear up any confusion.

GW has no WYSIWYG mandate, other than to use Citadel miniatures, which you're doing. Different tournaments have different rules on the matter.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Incorrect. Characters (IC and UC) MUST carry the correct equipment.

I agree, beat him over the head with this fact.

"Yo dude, this here... yea this, see it? It a relic blade."

I guess I could make it more like a halberd or an axe... I just like the huge sledgehammer idea.

The halberd/glaive idea is awesome too.

My original guess was that you were looking for an excuse to use that sweet new two-handed hammer bit from the Death Company kit.

naah... something about an Exorcist Space Marine Captain crushing a Khorne Berserker like a can of tuna fish really appeals to me.

I have never had any problems with "this" being "that" at any time. I guess things are different all over.

I personally would have 0 issues with it. I would, however, counsel that it might not be the best of ideas to have a 1 handed hammer (no matter how "obviously two-handed" it is, remember this is 40k) that counts as a relic blade instead of the equally exotic and useful Thunderhammer which is always a 1 handed hammer. It is bound to lead to more confusion then you would like.

Anyway, more power to you.
