In this age of new and powerful psychic powers, and increased psychic defenses, I really feel that chaos has the short end of the stick. Especially in comparison to my Eldar!

I propose this rule to give Chaos some Defense, with similar effect to a psychic hood, and a simple mechanic

Wrath of the Blood God (20 points)
May be taken on a lord or demon prince with MoK, or a skull champion.

Fluff: Khorne's hatred of sorcery and trickery is channeled through his champions, and they enjoy his protection. Any psycher attempting to draw on the warp for power is faced with the terrifying psychic presence- and scorn- of the blood god.

Rule: Any psychic test (friend or foe) made by a model within 24 inches of a model with this upgrade must be taken at -3 leadership.

This results in a failed psychic test for a ld 10 model about 42% of the time.

Hm. Partially I think it is good and fluffy; on the other hand it would also take away much of the best tactic CSM have in their current crappy codex (Twin Lash princes).
But if they had a new good codex with legion rules and all that, I'd love to have that in.

yea, fluffy and not OTT was really what I was going for here.

I really think I should tone down the point cost though, as paying 20 points on top of the cost of a Khorne Lord / Prince / Skull champ, to get a defense that also effects friendly units and doesn't increase the chances of perils seems steep.

On the other hand, I didn't want to make it OTT like, Njal's slowed 3+ nullification, or the Farseers silly unlimited range 50% fail 37% perils Runes of Warding (which also only costs 15 points)

Would it be fair to lower the cost to 10 points, and keep it as is, or keep the cost at 20 points and give it unlimited range?

Also its not really the Lash princes I'm worried about, they seem to be falling in popularity due to the mech world we live in. Its really the Warp-Time Princes who suffer the most from a rule like this.

Well, in the Daemon Codex they have a wargear option for Greater Daemons and Heralds of Khorne called Blessing of the Blood God which gives them a 2+ armor save against Psychic attacks and force weapons.

Kharne has his special rule where Force Weapons count as normal power weapons against him.

Now, if I was going to write new wargear for Chaos I would give Sorcerer's a Chaos Rune or something that is basically a psychic hood, and then give Lords/Daemon Princes with MoK and Skull Champions a special rule where all psychic powers used against them or the squad they are attached to must be made on a 3d6 rather than a 2d6.

In my homebrew CSM and WE 'dexes I allowed DPs to buy a Rune of Khorne (as Khorne DPs get the short end of the stick on gear atm), which works the same as SW Runic Weapons in terms of nullifying stuff.

How about you can buy a collar of Khorne for lords, princes, and aspiring champions that give the model and unit they are with a 5+ invul from psychic attacks, and provide a cumulative (up to a total of -3 max) -1 ld modifier to psychic tests within say 18"? That way there is a both a reactive and dynamic aspect to the whole thing.

... oh, and either they affect all psykers, yours included, or you shouldn't be able to include psykers in your army.
