Well the best man and a groomsman will be there as well. I'm trying to get the coordinator to see if he can shift it til sunday already.

At least you're getting the news 6 months in advance. Sucks for any Fantasy players that only have a month and a half to change any preset plans.

I can't wait. I am already clearing my schedule for the August and September 40k dates.

Dates are on my calendar now. Just have to try to make sure my trip to Greece doesn't conflict.

The finals are same date as the DaBoyz GT!! That sucks!!

Will take some family finagling to go to the prelims... but my brother is old enough for me to skip his birthday. Semi's should be ok... but wont be going to the finals; getting married... guess not going to DA Boyz Gt either if it was that weekend.

Unfortunately I will miss yet another 'ard Boyz as a result of deployments. One day I have a chance to compete...

Well considering how *only* the prelims says WH fantasy 40k.. then the next two entries say fantasy followed by the next set of 3 being 40k.. Id say its fantasy first

Not too hard to figure out its a typo unless there are 2 40k 'ard boyz this year

This follows the pattern from last year and the year before (can't remember for 2008) of GW alternating which system starts in the Spring and which in the Summer.

In 2011 it's WH then 40k.
In 2010 it was 40k then WH.
In 2009 it was WH then 40k.

I just want them to release the rules - are we dealing with Grand armies at 3k, or will they follow the Adepticon example of 3k-but-not-grand?

Not sure what would work best from a sales perspective - Grand Armies allow more rares (encouraging you to buy more), but Rares tend to be expensive, points-wise, whereas forcing you to buy more Core would move more boxes (most core being cheap).

Finals tend to be like Chicago, Philly for east coast. LA west coast, not sure if any other locations.

Wasn't there only one year with split finals before and that was last year? Previously years, I thought it was Chicago.

2010 was the first time they split it.
2009 it was in Chicago (flying for a 1 day event was fun; continuing thanks to Centurian99 for giving me a place to stay).
2008 & 2007, IIRC, were both held on the Friday of the Baltimore GT weekend.

Here's to hoping they don't have asinine scenarios like last year!

And in a constructive addition, I think that is part of the 'charm' of 'Ard Boyz. Similar to the old Gladiators.

The finals scenarios last year had a couple of significant editorial flaws, but were decent concepts. Those flaws did kind of jump into stark relief on that stage, though. For a regular local tournament no one would care that much. For the national finals they could have used another round of playtesting and tweaking.

I continue to not like Ard Boyz at all. Poor scenarios, poor quality / playtesting / management, horrible baseline atmosphere, no painting requirements, absurd points level.
