Im still a little confused by this. I thought it was only 3 ranks but my opponent was saying 4 ranks unless they charge.

Ok, here it is. Martial Prowess says they fight in an extra rank. Everyone fights in two ranks to the front (supporting attacks) Spears give you an extra rank, Martial prowess gives you an extra rank. so that's 1(base-to-base)+1(supporting)+1(spears)+1Martial prowess)=4

Add the horde rule (extra rank of supporting attacks) and you can get a whopping 5 ranks worth of attacks.

It's still an over rated ability IMHO. It's pretty rare for a High Elf unit to have more than four ranks, which means every casualty the unit takes will decrease its damage output.

Maybe, but as soon as your opponent says, "I'm casting mindrazor on that spearunit." You'd better be reaching for a dispell scroll faster than cookiemonster going for the chocolate chips.

Yea, withouth Mindrazor (which shouldn't happen), I think you'd take more damage walking into a rosebush....lol.
