									Hello fellow Dakkaites!
I'm a student at Dundee in lovely, rainy Scotland, and I'm desperately trying to finish at least a handful of models to table top quality at the least. I've been in and out of the hobby for the last 10 or so years, collecting hundreds of models, but never really finishing any of them off. So I've been lurking on this forum and others for the past few months, awe struck at the project logs, and decided to give it a go, to get some models finished, motivate myself to do more, and improve my hobby skills.

So I thought what place better to start than the pin ups of the 40k universe. But I don't really want to jump on the BA bandwagon, or be another Space Puppy (no offence!). The background is the part of the hobby I like the most, its the part that has kept me in over the last decade and spending all my cash at GW , and so I'm giving a DIY chapter a go.

All the information on the Honoured Sons chapter is that they have a homeworld in the galactic north east called Jonol, and their badge is an aquila with a skull in the middle. So lots of room for me to twist em to my design. I'll get some fluff written up over the next couple of days hopefully, but my priority is to finish off the first squad.

I'd better stop rambling on and show some pics of the scheme I'm working at. Now my artistic skills are pretty much non existent so I can really only improve!

He isn't quite finished, but seeing as I have no real knowledge of painting, I'm going by other plogs and tutorials, I don't have an eye for it. I'm aiming to do some celtic style patterns on random armour peices, like the Carcharadons in IA10 , however need a lot of practice first!

This is the first combat squad in the army at various stages of painting, on of the guys I attempted a while back and looks a little different, around the same time as I did the Chaplain.

I'm really chuffed with how he turned out, but it was so long ago that I can't remember the recipe I used for him, and of course I didn't make a note of it! Lesson learned there!

Well there you are, the start to a hopefully long and prosperous project! Let me know what you think, I'm open to all comments and criticism!

Ok doke, so I was planning on getting some more pretty pictures to try and get some comments, but I am far too hungover to attempt that this morning, maybe over the next week or so. And as the hangover has my brain the consistency of watery porridge background isn't tripping off my tongue. However I desperately want to keep this thread going, in an attempt to motivate myself to work on these models that take up far too much of my time already, and hopefully manage my time more.
I've written oodles of background about different armies, but never got round to making the models that i have imagined. What I am planning on doing is geting the SM up to around 500 points or so and then crack on with some IG , however I want the models to have character but this is just going to take even more time, meh c'est la vie.

I am planning on modeling the vets and termis along a similar line to the ultrasmurf tyrannic war vets, as well as having a large AdMech factor to the force. this being said I want to work on techmarine/ tech adept style models rather than scratchbuilt vehicles. After seeing so many amazing AdMech blogs and the amazing background they have I desperately want to have a go at creating some of my own. The IG army I am pllanning on doing will be half IG and half AdMech. I am going to have my Imperial forces represting a Exploratory fleet, this gives me the opprtunity to build up a huge and overly complicated interlinked background to all the models units etc, and also the chance to expand into ][munda and BFG .

As ever C&C on anything from the painting to the concepts, ANYTHING, is greatly appreciated.

Now to the shop for some hang over cure, Irn Bru, i love you Automatically Appended Next Post: Evenin chaps and chapettes. Hangover still lingering I decided to ignore the SM for a little longer and got to tinkering with some orks, well one ork. Pretty chuffed with the results having zilch practice with green stuff in the past.

Had a go at some plasticard paving slabs for the base after seeing some lovely work by Hits_the _spot with his True scale dreadnaught. Will put some sand around the skull once I find it in this pit of a room. Also need to add a few rivets to the new shoulder pad. But then I'll give the painting a go, so it may be finished this time next month!

  Any C+C greatly appreciated!

									Evening again.
I'm not sure if its breaking the rules posting in a thread that isn't getting any comments but here I go!

Just a small update, no pictures this time. I am planning on themeing the Orks as a Greenskin version of a Rogue Trader army, probably going to name them the Rouge Traders due to the Warbosses love of red. I'm aiming to represent as many of the classes of the Rogue Traders entourage as possible, for example
 Arch-Militants being the Nobs,
 Explorators the Meks
 Missionaries possible Runtherds?
 Navigators being the Weirdboys
 Seneschal as the Commandos
Although not sure about the Void master or the Astropath having a representative in the Ork codex, any ideas?

Now that the plastic crack bug has bitten once again after a couple of years of gathering dust I really want to sink my teeth into it and get some results. Some feedback of any kind will really helpful and hopefully speed my painting up for some pics next time!

I like the Chaplain. Maybe as some advice, try picking out some details, like sybmols on the armor or doing some scrollwork on the purity seals and parchments. Just a thought. The red could maybe do with a highlight. Just seems a little flat to me. I do like the general scheme though.

I like your colour scheme! Are the lighter colours bleached bone? I'm picturing them in my head with those celtic designs you promised ( ) and I reckon they'll work really well. Some ace looking models!

The plasticard work on the ork looks really nice, and will no doubt give you the personalisation bug before you know it. Is it hard to work with? I've got very little experience with plasticard but I keep meaning to use it. I'll be following |

Hey just a quick update today assessments creep up far too quickly!

@ bunnygurl : I'm not happy with the red, back to the drawing table with it, and I'll need to try and differentiate between the paper and the armour, hopefully some script will do the job like you said. Thanks for the advice!

@Perkustin : Thanks, I get the feeling us Scots are in the minority on here! Yeah I'm a fan of bone, relatively easy to paint, and theres so many ways to do it! The orks I'm aiming to convert quite a bit, planning on spinning his axe arm round to be in a more natural pose, hopefully this weekend then crack on with the other 39!

@ Scarper : Good to see you here! The celtic designs will be coming, but only as my painting skills progress! Thinking that a sky blue will be best on the bone armour, may do a little tester at the weekend. The personalisation takes time but its well worth it, as I'm sure you well know, and that's me speaking about one shoulder pad! I've got a very WIP battlewagon to imperial chimera kicking around somewhere, that I may just have to practice my plasticard skills on. Plasticard seems ok to work with, with my extremely limited use of it, although I'm sure I'll have something else to say on the matter after a while! The best thing with the orks is that you can use up all the little odds an ends for spikes etc, which is what i did here.

I'd love to be cracking on with some hobby stuff but unfortunately real life has to take to the fore from time to time. This course sucks for free time and the job isn't going to be any better. Any way I need to get off Dakka an do some studying. Aiming to get some progress on Mr Ork or the Marines over the weekend. Till then!

									Evening chaps!
To give the idea (to myself as well as you) that I've got some hobby done over the past few weeks I'm posting some pics of very WIP , and basically stuck together with blutac models! But as ever I'd love some feedback!

First up is the Rouge Trader himself, well currently the Grey Trader, but he's better than the On-the-sprue Trader! I'm not really sure what to do with him weapon wise, the right hand is going to have a CCW either sword or axe or mace etc, the left arm atm has some random weapons on it just now, I'm not sure what weapon to give him, or even make up a bionic hand and give him a pistol, all be it, a huge one! One of the legs may be amputated and some for of bionic prostheses added, not sure what yet, perhaps a peg leg?

These two are identical AoBR orks that I'm going to plasticard and GS to look as different from each other as possible, a kind of self imposed challenge as I've not much practice with plasticard or GS , and its a chance to work on the skills! At the moment their called Gom and Mog, I'll try to rustle up some background on them at some point.

I've also got a Mentor Legion Space Marine in the pipeline (ie off the sprue) for the Great Marine Swap, I'll hopefully get something started on him this weekend. I'm thinking of converting some normal power armour into Mk VIII with the full collar to stick with the fluff.

I'll have some less WIP picture next time I post I promise!

Hey Perkustin. The Rouge Trader basically stemmed from me misspelling Rogue Trader. It got me to thinking about a comedy 40k character who trades red stuff, and all Orks are a little partial to red stuff as it goes faster. The Rouge Trader takes the Ork philosophy too far however and thinks all red stuff is better, so will be encrusted in all manner of red stuff, red SM shoulder pads for boots etc. I've had the AoBR box kicking around for ages, and though I'd give the conversion a go.
Since the last post I've chopped off this right leg and am currently half way through replacing it with lots of Ork gubbinz. I've decided to have a go at both a mass of guns and also a bionic hand with pistol for the left hand, but need to wait to get some rare earth magnets before starting them.

I'll try and get some pictures up later tonight, if not the next few days.
