So, I have a question for you guys. I have a Crimson Fists army and a bunch of black templars from back in the day. I was reading the Crimson Fists fluff and saw that they were a crusading chapter for most of their history (in fact, this is why the first company has 128 members, blah blah, fluff, blah).

Anyway I painted some of them up as black templars but lost steam on that because I absolutely hate paint black (as I came to discover). So, I was thinking hey, I have some awesome conversions here (and most of them are made with the black templar bits) I can just paint them up as crimson fists crusaders with red crosses rather than white.

One of the members of my group is a bit ocd and doesn't go for that idea and another thinks it is fine and interesting. I was curious what the thought of other random tourney people are since that is where much of my gaming is these days.

Wait, there's more than one kind of Space Marine now?

Given that I see tournament Khornate armies fielded as Blood Angels, and Space Wolves come in every color of the rainbow, I have no problem with Red Templars. Bonus points if they actually are using Templar-like iconography, irrespective of color.

As long as your models are WYSIWYG not many people are going to care what rules you're using.

Crimson Fists as counts-as Black Templars sounds great. I've thought of doing the same thing on occasion since I have the old Emperor's Champion model but have never got up the will to run it.

I see counts-as SM armies of every color of the rainbow more and more. Your idea seems better than most, as it actually has some basis in the fluff. Play ball!

There is official fluff supporting marine "crusade" armies made up of many different chapters. A crusade army of two crusader type armies from the same geneseed is well within the standard fluff.
