First of all my apostrophe key is broken so bear with me guys.

I was reading the Tau codex the other day, and noticed in the top of the battlesuit armory section, it says that any model with access to the armory may choose up to 100 points of wargear.

My question is: What models count as having access to the armory? As you all probably know, XV8s need to choose 3 battlesuits weapon or support systems from the armory, does this mean they have access to the armory, and thus can take wargear? Now it states that if you spend an extra 10 points and make an XV8 a ShasVre, that he can take wargear, so does this mean that this is the only case in which an XV8 can take wargear? Or does an XV8 count as having access to the armory simply because he is required to take weapon or support systems from the armory?

This issue extends to other models as well, such as stealthsuits, who have the option of choosing a battlesuit support system, are they allowed to take wargear? Is a Broadside allowed to take wargear because it has to choose a support system?

I found this very confusing and would like to know what you guys think.

Basically the models only have access to What they say they have access to.

A Standard Shas'ui Crisis suit can only buy Battle suit Weapons and Support systems(and some of those are limited)

A Shas'ui Team leader, or a Shas'vre has full access to the Wargear as well as the Basic Battle suit systems(Only the Shas'vre can purchase Special issue gear).

These are all found in the "Character" section of the unit entry.

Yeah, pretty much.

You didn't really make a mistake though. By RAW, all battlesuits have access to the wargear section... but (imho) this obviously isn't RAI.

That is not true at all.

RAW(and intended) is that all battlesuits have access to the Battlesuit armory, and more specifically the weapons and support systems; only team leaders and Shas'vre have access to the Wargear.

This is stated very specifically and plainly in several places in the Codex, the first of which is the Armory itself, and later re-iterated in every battlesuit entry.
