I am new to 40K, and started less than a month ago.

I was just wondering if somebody could refer me to a guide for basic basing and painting.

Check out the tutorials branch of the forum, there are quite a few there, although you may have to go back a little. Sorry I can't give a more direct answer, but it's the best I can do atm.

Try reading the painting and modeling articles on the gamesworkshop site, but try not to trust them too much as they tend to lie somewhat on which paints they use (in my opinion). And I'm really not trying to patronise here, but google is a godsend. There are alot of talented people on the internet, and some of them are kind enough to share their secrets.

Just keep in mind that everyone has their own method, and you will quickly learn what yours is, and how to take the bits that suit you out of tutorials. I mean, I could teach you how I paint my stuff, but you probably wouldn't like it, but you may like some of it.

hope that helps, probably doesn't though, sorry.

I' new to minigaming. I used the gw site for painting and basing tutorials. If you're brand new to painting as well, take of the last step, as this is usually the hardest step because of highlighting and washes. Thats what i did when i started. You'll soon get the hang of it. Also, its best to water down your paints slightly so they aren't thick.

The best advice I can give is to aim for a neat and tidy paintjob, leave the flashy work until you feel confident to try it. Remember: even if you make a mess you can just try again, and again and again. You will get there I promise you, good luck!
