I'd really like feedback on this model, as it is the first time that greenstuff has actually worked out for me, which makes this guy one of my favorite models.

This guy started out as one of the new spawn as seen here:

but the more I looked at that eyeball instead of a head, the more I didn't like it, but I loved the look of the rest of the model. So I sat down and started digging through my bitz box, and came up with this:

WhooHoo, this is gonna be awesome. So after much cutting and drilling, and scraping, (that plastic that Mage Knight figures are made out is some tough stuff) I finally had a hole in the base of the neck that was big enough and deep enough to give a tight fit over the eyeball. Then glued it in place, and let it sit while I got my greenstuff together. Then started to fill in where I had cut and carved, to create this:

But I still wasn't happy with it, there was something missing and I just couldn't place my finger on what it was. So I set it aside for a day and thought about it, and then it hit me, and I quickly went to work adding this:

And with the wattle added to the underside of his neck, to me he was perfect, all that was needed was to paint him up. I used a flat black, and then various lighter shades of brown starting from a dark muddy brown and working up to a tanned brown, and then drybrushed a dark red, then a crimson red, over those areas that I felt would be used to tear a person apart. I also went in and added more splatter in those areas where pieces of flesh would drip blood, like the area down the middle of his back.

Please let me know what you think of this guy, and what if any improvements could be done. I will consider all advice given, but I withhold the right to not take said advice to heart.
thank you all in advance.

That looks very cool! Speaking of spawn, it reminds me of a spawn toy..

thanks for the compliments on this figure, it's really appreciated. Black Ram gave me some suggestions that will quite possibly make this model look even better, just gotta find the time to do it.

THAT'S IT! It seemed familiar-ish, and that was it.

Nicely done conversion. Paint is a little rough, but it's a spawn, it's OK!

The rough paintjob is what gives it that Dead Space feel, the ripping and torn skin with blood and muscles showing underneith.

sad thing is, i'm probably going to get that alot, but i can assure you this guy was built in 2008 before i had ever seen or heard of Dead Space. However, to be given that kind of familiarization is not necessarily a bad thing i guess, especially since i can always say that Dead Space copied from me, and therefore they are giving me the ultimate in flattery.

ok, time to get serious now, yeah the paint is a little rough i admit that, i'm still learning all the little tricks and tips that other painters have known for awhile now, so the question is, how could he be improved? what could i do on this guy or the next one down the line, to make it look better. right now this guy looks like he walked a mudhole dry and then gave Freddy Kruegar the big what for.

Looks to me like you went straight from black to the flesh tone. Try going progressively from a darker shade of the flesh, then a good heavy drybrush of the flesh color, wash it with a flesh wash (I use brown ink) then highlight with a mix of bone and the flesh color (light drybrushing).

that's something i didn't use when painting this guy. it's hard to see but there is a dark brown in there. something else i didn't do on this guy that i have done elsewhere is that i didn't mix paints to get lighter shades of the same color i just went straight from one pot and on to the next. i also didn't know about light sourcing when i did this guy, so i guess what i really need to do is go back in with the dark brown and repaint him and then start mixing paints to get the lighter shades. saving the lightest shade for those areas that would be hit by natural lighting.

so thanks for the compliments again, and thanks for the tips and the ideas. it is really appreciated.
