Im currently working on modeling an administratum building and I want to model two long vertical flowing banners on either side of the main entrance. Are there any suggestions on how I would go about doing this?

I was thinking of paper and soaking in in PVA to give it some form.

Laminating paper with PVA will work for simple curves, but I'm not sure how well you'll be able to form soft wrinkles and complex curves. Perhaps a single piece soaked through would suffice. Never tried it, myself.

Looking at other options, careful application of heat will make plasticard quite malleable. I've seen some very convincing banners made this way. Laminated foil (standard aluminum stuff nicked from the kitchen) is a also a possibility, but you have to be careful, otherwise you'll end up with dozens of small, sharp creases instead of a few large folds.

If all else fails, bend some plain old printer paper as best you can and say it isn't windy, today.

Or make them with GS.

Or even better, grab a piece of cloth with lots of PVA on it and let it dry in the position you want.

I print banners out on my printer - both sides - and design them to fold over. You could also do the same by drawing/painting onto paper. Then I glue the 2 sides together with Elmer's Glue - but not before I've put a couple of twist-ties inside. When the thing dries, the whole banner will twist most any way you want.

For the banner pole itself - use an appropriate model or just use a coffee stirrer.

I saw once using plasticard and shaping it by heating it with a heat gun and moving it with some tubular item to help make the waves. If I recall correctly they showed it off in the "Generals Compendium", dont know where my copy is at the moment though.
