No, I don't, I've memorized all the rules and use other peoples books when I have questions.
No, I don't, I only own the small one you get with AOBR.
Yes, I do, and I reccomend buying it.
Yes, I do, but it's nothing special. The small one is just fine.

I personally just own the small one from AOBR, as do most of my gaming community. Are there any benefits to buying the Big Rulebook?

I only own the AoBR rulebook. A friend of mine has the big rulebook and since he got the AoBR rulebook I've never seen him use the big one. It's a shame since the big rulebook has lots of nice pictures and fluff in it. I might get the next 40k big rulebook just because.

I own just the small one as well. It's more convient for traveling with. I may buy the next edition, but so far the small one has the rules, thats all I need. I come here for fluff.

I own both. I got the big book the day it came out and I got the small one later on. I like them both.

the big one i use at home as its bigger and better. but the small one is simply perfect to take for gaming.

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood.

I only have the little one. I'd never buy the big book. Way too heavy and cumbersome to carry around and use for quick reference.

Hardcover books are lovely, large books are lovely, but not for gaming purposes.

The sink.

I own the 4th edition big book. It had some nice art and extra rules for kill teams. But the book itself was heavy and unwieldy, making it difficult to transport and use during a game.

So for 5th I only bought the small book. I don't miss the big book.

I bought the big book, but because I'm new and wanted to read all the background fiction and pore over the model pics.

It works just fine for gaming purposes, IMO. It's bigger than the AOBR book but it's not THAT big. Still, I think I'll be getting AOBR itself soon, and once I do I'll use the small book, as it is more portable (or maybe I'll sell it).

I don't own either, one of my buddies has the small one, but we barely even reference it anymore. We've gotten almost everything memorized, it's just on occasion that a new unit/codex has a rule that we're unfamiliar with.

Kingdom Death Fanatic. Dark Eldar: Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Dark Elves: Allegiance to the Black Crown. Also, Masons, Cygnar, and Legion of Everblight. All unnamed.

Holy gak that is an awesome username. Please tell me your army is called Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Morathi's Darkest Sin has some competition here for best handle, I think.

My buddy lost my AOBR book so he gave me 25 bucks towards my big book.

There is no real point to it though, some nice pics, some fluff everyone knows. It does have a section at the end with the stat lines of all the things in all the armys, but some are old now and I really don't use that section that often.

I own the AOBR rulebook. I use the rulebook to reference rules, and having a little pocket-sized book for that is a godsend. Cheap, too.

I really like the fluff and stuff that you get from the big book.

I own it, but i haven't read anything other than the rules in it
And only take the small one when i play.
I think/guess there is a bit more than just fluff (although maybe not that much) (other than rules i mean) which possibly means its not worth it? As their are all the Black Library books anyway.

I have the big book, I personally find it useful for getitng people into the hobby as you can open it and show the fluff/pretty pictures to people.

Not to mention, it's useful for showing people the models.

I bought the big rulebook when it came out, when you've already got the 3rd,4th edition rulebooks it's not worth it and too heavy, given the choice now I'd get the AOBR one.

I've got both. I haven't used the large one for a couple of years, and I now consider it a waste of £30.

I certainly won't buy the next edition, which will probably be £40. I'll buy the starter set for the small rulebook, and get rid of any figures I don't want.

Even if the starter box is £60, it will still be better value than a massive £40 rulebook which is too heavy to carry around.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Personally, I would never pay for the Big rulebook. Only reason I have that one is because it was given to me. Given the choice I'd have purchased a AOBR book and a unit instead of a more expensive book.

I have the big one because my small one was lost. The big ones good on fluff and if you want more complex scenarios but is pain when travelling and the backs coming off on mine.
