Simple question: Can I purchase Chimeras for my Imperial Guard Special Weapons Squads? The codex doesn't explicitly state that they can take a Chimera, so could I purchase a Chimera for another squad (or just flat out take an empty chimera) and stick them in it it before the game starts? By this I mean, I don't want to have to "move" them in to the transport on my first turn.

No and no. You can have them embark on turn 1 though.

No, they can't have a Dedicated Transport. And you can't start the game embarked in another unit's DT - it's expressly forbidden (BRB pg 67, pg 94). Jumping in on turn one is perfectly OK.

Yeah, what's been said here. It's sad, really, they're the squad that actually needs it in a platoon, besides the PCS.

You also cannot buy an "Empty" chimera - you HAVE to buy them "for" a unit that can buy them.

Put them in a vendetta? They can start in there from turn one.

What everyone else said. Just buy one for your blob, and then have the SWS steal it turn one.
