Not having purchased any models yet, this list is open to total reconstruction! Haha. Well... actually I have Lysander, but I bought him more as a model to paint. I want to try sticking to the Fluff of Imperial Fists, and using units that reflect their history. However, being only a 1500Pt Army, I don't really want to take Lysander. If I was doing a +2000Pt list I would take him in a heart beat .

I apologize for any stupid questions I ask, it's been a long time since I played.(Armageddon Codex: Black Templar army, with mostly foot troops and what not.) This is my first time attempting to make a Shooty type SM army, let alone a 5th Edition army.

HQ
This is where I get lost, I can't think of what to take other than Lysander. I was leaning towards MotF w/ Conversion Beamer and throw him in a squad of Servitors. I've never used a Techmarine in an army though, so I have no idea how to use him or who he should be put with.

Elite(400)

Ironclad Dreadnought - 200
w/ Heavy Flamer instead of Storm bolter, HK Missiles x2, Drop Pod.
Ironclad Dreadnought - 200
w/ Heavy Flamer instead of Storm bolter, HK Missiles x2, Drop Pod.

Troop - (435)
In regards to troops, is it better to Combat Squad them and mount them in Razorbacks? And if I do so, does only one of the squads get the Razorback?(ex. I split them into two teams of 5, do both teams get a Razorback? or do they only get one?) Or should I just scrap transports for my troops all together? Also, please feel free to recommend any other type of equipment I should give them instead.

Tactical Squad - 230
10 Man Squad w/ Plasma Gun, Plasma Cannon.
Sgt w/ Combi-Plasma.
Rhino

Tactical Squad - 230
10 Man Squad w/ Plasma Gun, Plasma Cannon.
Sgt w/ Combi-Plasma.
Rhino

Tactical Squad - 175
5 Man Squad
Sgt w/ Combi-Plasma.
Razorback w/ Lascannon and TL Plasma Gun.

Heavy Support - (280)

Vindicator - 140
w/ Extra Armour, Siege Shield

Vindicator - 140
w/ Extra Armour, Siege Shield

So, if my math is correct this should total up to 1115Pts. Which leaves 385 Pts towards an HQ and whatever else. But, I'm still completely stuck on which HQ to take. I would really appreciate any C&C on this List. And what I could possibly take for an HQ.

Thanks!

Well you would need to do two separate squads of 5 instead of a squad of 10 split into two with two razorbacks. If I were you I would put some meltaguns in there and prolly a power fist or at least power weapon on all the sergents. Lysander is one bad mutha so he's always good, however he prolly couldn't work for this list since guys in terminator armor can't go in rhinos or razorbacks and he'll get smoked on his own. A Master of the forge could be good, but you'd probably want to keep him with the vindicators so he can fix them if they get damaged. Transports are going to be necessary either way though otherwise your guys are slower than poo. If you've got to take a point that's on the other side of the board, slogging it can lose you the game.

Good list against MEQs because of the many plasmaguns, and the vindicators can blow up many orks but it has no meltaguns, so land raiders will be impossible to shoot before they reach their target.
Btw if you split up a tactical squad into combat squads only one squad gets the rhino.

I'd drop the Dreadnoughts to be honest. One will come down first turn and not do lot, you could drop it mid field and then the other as and when. I'd add another squad with a Razorback with lascannons and take meltas on the squads, then go for Vindicators on the rest.

Thank you for the responses!
Well, instead of using Plasma weapons I could swap them all for Melta Weapons(Yay for not having any units yet ). As for the combat squads, would it be viable to mount them all in a Rhino. And then move them to wherever, disembark and then combat squad them? Or just do it during deployment?

If I were to drop the Dreadnoughts, that would free up 400pts. So 400Pts + 385Pts I have left over for an HQ. Could get me 785Pts worth of HQ. (Probably a bad idea, but let's see how this works out.)

Revised List, I've taken what you have all said into consideration. And here's hoping it looks better haha.

HQ - 200
Lysander will be going with the Assault Terminators in the LR

Lysander - 200Pts

Elite -
I've dropped both of the Ironclads in favour of giving Lysander a hard hitting squad.

Terminator Assault Squad - 200
TH/SSx3 LCx2
Land Raider Redeemer
w/ Multimelta, Extra Armour, Stormbolter.

Troops - 520
For troops, I took the suggestion of combat squading them. And replacing their Plasma weapons with Meltas.
Melta Gun+ Sgt. Mount up together in the Razorback, and cause havoc and set up forward positions. While the Multimelta and rest of the squad, set up in cover in my deployment.

Tactical Squad - 260Pts
w/ Melta Gun, Multimelta
Sgt. w/ Combi-Melta, Chainsword.
Razorback w/ TL Lascannon, Stormbolter

Tactical Squad - 260Pts
w/ Melta Gun, Multimelta
Sgt. w/ Combi-Melta, Chainsword.
Razorback w/ TL Lascannon, Stormbolter

Heavy Support - 280

Vindicator - 140
w/ Extra Armour, Siege Shield

Vindicator - 140
w/ Extra Armour, Siege Shield

Total: 1495
