Wight Lord with the Sword of Kings

So, I lately bought the assault on black reach boxed game. I painted the space marines as blood angels, and I decided to collect them.
I'm planning to buy a stormraven gunship and a tactical squad, wich should be a good start and, I hope, good dark eldar killers (my friends collect those, since i started coollecting 40k). I don't have the codex yet, bt its coming this way.
Now, my questions are:
-are there more of you who collect blood angels?
-what HQ should I take? (I think of the Sanguinor)
-should I include much death company?
- stormraven or landraider?

Now, my questions are:
-are there more of you who collect blood angels? - Yes, but not me
-what HQ should I take? (I think of the Sanguinor) - Most would say stick to the generic HQs
-should I include much death company? - Maybe, but not too many. Very expensive for what they do
- stormraven or landraider? - Stormraven is more flexible, Landraider is tougher

I agree with Flashman. Also, get a couple of assault squads and drop pods, try to make use of the BA's strengths.

You can always deepstrike your land raider anyway. I'd have that over the storm raven.
The most competative builds however use razorbacks with assualt cannons.
Dont use tactical squads use assault squads with their jump packs removed and get your Razorback for just 20 points. Then give it an assualt cannon! And all that it will cost you is 155 points!

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

Yes, there is plenty people playing BA, myself included.
Its very tempting to take the unique HQ choices, but since you're just starting out and probably playing on lower point games (I assume 750), I recommend using a Librarian. Librarian gives you great bang for your buck and another good choice is Reclusiarch.
I love DC, but in lower point games they are too costly imo, maybe you can take 5 and stick 'em in a Rhino if you really want them. But yeah, you should focus on Assault Squads first, since they are pretty much what BA is all about.
SR is great for carrying DC, but again I would only recommend this in higher points games.
Also, I have to say I'm not a big fan of the tactic obsidianaura mentions about Razorspam. Its the single most thing that give us BA a bad name and for good reason. Its cheap, powerful, no fluffy reason why to use it and just boring playstyle.

If you do want a general either mephiston or astorath are good choices as mephiston is nigh on invincible and astorath gives your army furious charge and gives you a solid other hq killer who with his squad can re-roll to hit on the charge

- Yes, I collect Blood Angels, see my picture gallery for my army if you would like. Since their new codex and subsequent release of more models, unfortunately they have become really popular.
- I would suggest the regular version of Tycho. His stat line is great, lots of wargear, relative to other HQ choices for the BA's he is cheap, makes use of nice weapons and special issue ammo, and give all other units moral/pinning tests on 10. If you are playing DE, I dont think the points for Sanguinor is worth it, since the DE really dont have a particular special character you need to eradicate from the board quickly.
- Use the Death company Sparingly!!! Very Sparingly!!! I would advise against Jump packs for them as well. Perhaps load them in the Storm Raven to keep them safe from rage until you can deploy them right where you need them. You might find that you dont even need to waist you money or time building and painting a death company. For my 3600 pts BA army, I have about 200 points of DC, which equates to about 6 figures (not counting Lemartes).
- I like the LandRaider personally, because of the Terminator capacity....having 5 assault terms with a term priest jump out of a LRC is a pretty disparaging sight for your opponent!
If you have any other questions PM me, as the Blood Angels are my primary and favorite army.
Also, I would suggest not to get caught up in the spam lists for tourneys that everyone runs. Be unique and collect an army that fits your fighting style. Best of Luck!

Really depends on what Mephiston is up against. Being unable to join a squad and no invulnerable save has seen him as nothing but a waste of points against my Eldar every time.

Although my marines aren't Blood Angels, I play them as Blood Angels.
-what HQ should I take? (I think of the Sanguinor)
That really depends on the army you plan on running. With BA special characters, you really have to build your army around them for maximum effect.
-should I include much death company?
Really depends on what you want with your army. As said above, they're really expensive for what they do, but for what they do, they do really, really, really well. They can be incredibly potent if used properly. I've had Lemartes and a 4 man squad take out 500-700 points in one game with little effort. I find with Death Company, they either kick a lot of ass and can take half a table on their own, or they end up failing horribly early on and being massive wastes of points. If you're going to play DC, you're going to have to be very aggressive with the rest of your army, they'll die quickly without support.
And I definetly recommend Lemartes. He alone has killed enough for me to make Mephiston blush (I've had games where his kill count exceeded 40).
- stormraven or landraider?
Once again, that depends entirely on how the rest of your army is built.

If thats what you really want then go ahead, though its far from optimal i think. Why? Squads with jetpacks take up 2x slots instead of 1x, this means you can only carry sqauds of 6 RAS in each SR.
Mephiston is indeed very good, though he is a little bit overrated and can be countered without much of a hassle. I agree that his statline is pretty insane but the fact that he cant join others squads makes him easier to handle.
Anyway, you will prolly hear a lot of cursing for using Mephiston just so you know cuz he is kinda OP.
