If a transport vehicles deep strikes, do units mounted in the transport count as having moved? I didn't see this rule listed anywhere but my IG opponent argued it (when I deepstriked 10 dark lances in behind his Leman Russ line )

Specifically I want to deep strike a Raider mounted with Kabalite Trueborn with Dark Lances. I know they could dismount and fire, but they would then count as moving. So does that imply that if they don't dismount they can fire their heavy weapons?

Thanks in advance

Your vehicle counts as moving cruising speed

if your vehicle moves YOU have moved

I think deploment of any type counts as movement so you cant fight heavy weapons with normal infaltry anyway

WEll yes - to move onto the board you have to have moved. It's jus tthe DS specifically states the speed your vehicle moves at, hence why just reading the DS rule carefully would be a good thing....

Deployment does not have anything to do with movement, although if you do not deploy you may only enter the table via deepstrike or move on from a table edge - both of which certainly count as movement.

Note that disembarking from a stationary vehicle also counts as moving, as my opponent earlier today learned!

I Believe it is in the rulebook FAQ but any units in a deepstriking transport also count as having deepstriked, so however you look at it the unit counts as moving.

They've moved because their vehicle has - the DS rules specifically state that vehicles count as having moved Cruising Speed.

I am just wondering how you got one Trueborn squad with 10 dark lances......

Or how they are disembarking, unless the SC is there. The normal upgrades for raiders dont let you disembark the turn you drop in.

Or why theyre running Lances when Blasters are assault weaponry....not that they could fire when embarked, as your vehicle has moved at Cruising Speed.

Rather than starting a new thread:

Valkyrie Assault carriers deep strike, no problem, but they're not dedicated transports. Is it still legal to deep strike them with a payload of Vets?

yes

Yes this is perfectly fine - the unit inside does not need the special rule, just the vehicle

For those who disagree then make them move their vehicles 6" maximum, as the unit inside does not have a rule that allows them to mvoe faster.

It wasn't one squad. Two Raiders with Kabalite Trueborn and a Ravager, which is actually 9 Dark Lances.

Just remember:

Unless taking the SC they cannot disembark, so even if THEY didnt count as moving [at cruising speed](which they do) they would not be able to fire, as the vehicle has moved cruising speed

If they can disembark this is still movement, so they could only fire rapid / assault weaponry

Which is why blasters, with their new improved range, are the better choice for trueborn

You're right, I had Duke Sliscus. I am thinking about replacing the Lances on my Trueborn to a squad with four blaster's. Hopefully that will get me one dead tank on a deep strike mission.

Blasters are definitely the way to go, cheap-ish anti tank wise. Deepstrike them in Venoms and you get the 12 anti infantry shots as well
