Look at your codex.

It's hormagaunt...and termagant.

gaunts...gants

one has a "u"...and one doesn't have a "u"

Now I can understand the fact that this deletion of the letter "u" is new to this edition...but could you please get it right?

You realize Termagant and Hormagaunt names go back to 2nd edition at least, right?

Back then, they did not have a 'gaunt' genus, they were simply Termagants and Hormagaunts, and look distinctly different as well.

With 3rd edition, and the revision of their fluff, they were put, with Gargoyles, into the gaunt genus. They added the'u' to Termagant in 4th edition, and removed it again in 5th edition.

Technically "Termagants" didnt exist in 4th edtiion, they were just a variant of the "gaunt" unit choice, altough the specific name was still spelled "Termagants". Honestly I really dont care since both are the same and I just universally call any small gaunts with guns "Gaunts".

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

You are correct, OP, on the spelling issue here. What's with GW and their weird spelling of stuff?

On a side note, I have a message of my own to all Tyranid players:

"Termagant" is just a word GW writers saw somewhere and plundered because they thought it sounds cool - just like "carnifex", "lictor" or "Eldar"...

I actually met two kids who called them "shooty shooties" and "stabby stabbies"

That was more acceptable to me than "gaunts" as a generic term for general infantry nids. I often have to ask people horma or terma when they simple say or post the generic term.

Combined with Dominatrix, I think one of the developers was having relationship issues.

What about deathgaunts, hellgaunts, lashgaunts, nightgaunts, protogaunts, pyrogaunts, terrorgaunts, crucigants, exegants, razorgants, toxigaunts, genogants, mortegaunts, malgants, rendergants, and slashgaunts? Seems to be quite a few with the "u" variation. Of course these are all from the CCG so they may not count.

This is now how I will designate what I am shooting at when playing against my in house Tyranid player. Thank you.
