Unsaved wounds.

It hasn't been asked that often, because it's reasonably clearly answered in the combat resolution rules.

It's actual wounds inflicted.

Page 39 in BRB: To decide who has won the combat, total the number of unsaved wounds inflicted by each side.

To add: If a model with more than one wound left is insta-killed by a single unsaved wound, all of the wounds it lost count towards combat resolution.

Could you be a bit more clear with what you are saying here? Possibly provide a quote too, as for people who are not as versed as you in the BRB could find this phrasing confusing.

One 'suffers' wounds, 'losing' isn't actually game game term, a new player could have easliy thought 'Well, it's been removed so I've lost all my wounds.' where the case is 'How many wounds did I suffer before being removed from play?' Which is the action on performs when suffering a wound which causes instant death.

He means that even though you only technically suffer a single wound when killed by an wound that inflicts instant death, you still count how many total wounds that model had remaining and use that for combat resolution.

e.g an unwounded tyranid warrior killed by a s8 power fist wound counts as 3 wounds for combat resolution, even though 1 wound killed it.
