Ninjas,

I have 2 questions relating to FW's Huron: Chapter Master of the Astral Claws. I have purchased the Lion head shoulder pads from Scribor and once they arrive will be adding them to some of the HQ options in my army. I stumbled upon the Huron model in my e-travels and was blown away. It's an amazing model, and by coincidence, fits the theme of my army.

Now, I've been looking to buy/convert a Librarian in Terminator Armour of late.

1. I've never worked with resin before. I have read a few forums and think I'm familiar with it's properties .. but (for those with experience in resin models) would it be difficult to remove the flamer and replace it with a storm shield or storm bolter? I intend to magnetise these (I'm already working on some combi weapons and plenty of experience with magnets.) I'm just not 100% buying a resin model yet.

2. According to the SM codex, Librarians cannot select a power fists or lightning claw. Is this correct? If so, is it wrong to leave the powerfist/claw on the model - even thought it's useless in a game? Obviously, a power sword or something equivalent (and legal) will need to be added on the model.

Thanks guys .. It's appreciated.

Rock on.

A Force Power Fist or Force Claw would be very fluffy if your army is lion-themed. The only modelling problems I can see is modifying that flamer into a combiflamer and giving Huron a Psychic Hood.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

I've only played a few games (spent about 10 years in the hobby painting/modelling though). Am looking through the codex and rule book and can not find a definitive explanation on these items.

Does this mean that the if the Librarian takes Force Lightning Claws, he gains the traits of the lightning claws (re-roll failed 'to wound') or do the lightning claws simply represent 'a force weapon' much as a power sword / axe would?

If the latter, that means one could model any weapon on to the Librarian ... sweet

Yeah, a reason why he really jumped out at me.

Not worried about modifying the flamer. I already have a storm bolter, combi-melta, combi-plasma made up. I need to acquire a storm shield. They just need magnetising. I plan to model them on to Hurons fist where the flamer sits (similarly to Calgar's storm bolters).

Psychic hood .. whilst not a Green Stuff ninja, I can certainly hold my own. Have made a few sketches for some ideas for psychic hood using a small amount of plasticard, green stuff and wiring. Nothing fancy.

Thanks sirs. I appreciate your input.

Yes, the lightning claw would become a force weapon - loosing the ability to re-roll failed to wound - and gaining the ability to insta-kill on a successfull psychic test.

And the storm bolter looks great, one of my mates did the exact same thing with the flamer.

I am currently taking commissions.

I'd guess that the flamer arm is seperate, you can just use a plastic terminator arm and save yourself from having to cut up the nice resin one (and be able to sell/trade it)

AG: Thanks for the clarification. Glad to hear the Storm Bolter looks good.

Master Slowpoke: I don't really care for the flamer .. but I like the idea being able to magnetise a storm bolter, storm shield or combi weapon onto the area where the flamer sits.

If you want to cut off the barrel of the flamer and mount your storm bolter on that. Cut up some bolters and mount them. This way it looks like the storm bolter has a huge drum clip for ammo. Now this may not look right. FW doesn't have a good side shot of his flamer arm, so i couldn't tell ya. I did a quick google search for pics of the model and it looks like the flamer and the arm are one piece. So you will have to cut it off to make it a storm bolter. So taking off the flamer barrel/nozzle and trimming off the hose that it has you could easily make it into a storm bolter. FW has some awesome looking stuff and I cringe a little bit inside when I say cut it up.

As for working with the resin, it is similar to plastic but you have to be slightly more careful with it. You can even heat it up (with hot water) and bend the pieces to reposition them. As for the Lightning claw is would just be used as a count-as force weapon, so it would follow the force weapon rules.

Either way good luck with your army

Forge World resin is as easy to work with as GW plastic. You'll want to avoid power tools if possible because you don't want the resin to become dusty and airborn. Otherwise you need superglue and your normal tools. Larger models need pinning but smaller models should be fine with just gluing.

I was planning to cut it so it leaves a smooth surface (removing flamer and fuel drum). Add a magnet. This way I can use a storm bolter, storm shield or combi weapon. As the character is a Librarian I have no use for the flamer.

I hear you. But this model is too awesome to leave in a FW warehouse.

That's great intel. Thanks. I had no idea about the fine particles. I was planning on pinning both his arms as I'm not a big fan of superglue on it's own. Can be too brittle.

If it helps, I have the Huron model, the arms (both flamer and claw), head, banner and vials on his chest are all seperate. Regular terminator arms are fully compatible with the body .

Correct and correct. As I'm converting him to a Librarian, the flamer is completely useless. I play vanilla marines and use my own Chapter which has a Lion theme. I'm intending to remove the flamer and add a magnet, so that a storm bolter, combi weapon or storm shield can be added in a GK-esque style. No't sure if it's fluffy or not .. and don't really care as I have played exactly 6 games in my life (yet have over 5000 pts of marines, tyranids .. plus a tonne of dark elves)

Speaking of which, I'm looking for a the large storm shield that comes with the SM Terminator CC squad. If anybody has one laying around I'll happily buy it from them.
