S8+D6. This means that, at best, you can only glance it.

And the blood starts getting ankle deep if you get the raw -wranglers in on this, up to and including arguing that meltabombs aren't melta and aren't weapons

Frankly if you're in an army that has access to meltabombs (eldar and Imperium i think) you're better off using a lascannon+ from range or equivilent weapon.

Meltabombs in general isnt that good. for +5 points you can usually buy a melta gun, which tends to have better accuracy and more shots (Meltabombs are restricted to champions and sarges, so you only ever get 1 shot, whereas most Melta units can take two Meltaguns). It's a good points filler though.

I'll also point out that the reprint of the Necron codex goes a step further and states that you only ever get a single d6.

Exactly, it doesn't matter wherever you're using a Meltagun, Meltabomb or even a Meltacannon, you only ever get a single D6 to penetrate a Monolith.

Are you suggesting that meltabombs are melta weapons and, hence, are AP1?

There's nothing in the rulebook that says that all melta weapons are AP1, so no, I doubt he is.

Melta bombs are insanely good. I don't even take power fists anymore, when I can get a "chainfist" for one fifth of the price. I see no reason not to abuse them, especially since all kinds if stuff can take them. I could care less about having one attack, especially since it's basically a guarentee to kill something.

Anyway, I'd say it works like a krak bomb, except with two more strength.

As I stated the last time we did this mery-go-round not all melta effects are AP1.

My example was the ork Wierdboy ZZApp power, wich is AP2.

So, no. I'm not arguing that all melta is AP 1, and therefore meltabombs should be

@Samus_aran115 Meltabombs are really not that good, they are only useful against vehicles and I have rarely had an opertunity to use one against a vehicle that has not moved flat out, therefore I would much rather have more attacks, not to mention you only hit walkers on a 6 with meltabombs where as weapon skill with a chainfist. There not useless and my Eversor has saved my butt with them a few times, but the single attack and not having AP1 is a big hinderer to how good they are.

This is going to tactics discussion, but I'll contribute my thoughts.
I don't use meltabombs. However, if I would, it would be to take on any tank shockers. A free hit with melta gun (expect no AP 1)? For 5 pts? Thank you!
