Do skimmers land after they finish moving? Last time I asked a question about flying stand bases and I was told that they should never be removed unless the vehicle is immobolized or destroyed if possible. However the vehicle in question is an Eldar Wave Serpent which is a skimmer and has a little flying base. Is it removed when you land? On pg. 71 under "Moving Skimmers" it says they should never be left in the air.

I'm confused...

The base is placed on the board.

The bit about not letting them hang in the air is related to the idea that they are allowed to go 'over' things; they are not allowed to remain 'over' at the end of their move.

So they keep their bases on..only removed when immobilized or destroyed...and that part is for people who think you can keep hovering over other units? LOL thats so funny!

They also mention that models cannot occupy the same space as another model. If you have ever tried to ACTUALLY do that, it is physically . . . awkward.

Think of it like that.

Grats on post 4000!

Do you guys know if an Eldar vehicle moves 12" and has Star engines. Then moves 1+" in the shooting phase for it's star engines does it count as moving flat out? Since it moved over 12?

Oh nice, thank you!

Flat out is based upon distanced moved in the movement phase.

Just wondering what you're basing that assumption on (as the rules don't seem to specify that)?

Also, for the original query...what is the context you are asking the question about? For enemy CC 'to hit' rolls? Or something else?

Ak.

I am mixing up the smf, aren't I?

I cheated and looked it up from previous posts, as my book is not available atm. Ooops.

Yeah, SMF does specify movement phase, but the basic speed classification rules don't say anything specific about the movement phase.

Yeppers, I went back and looked. That was even mentioned in the thread I checked--I did not read far enough.

I realized it as soon as you posted.

My bad.

So then it does count as flatout and a eldar skimmer per say would get it's 4+ save?

Say I move 12" in the movement phase. (Not enough) But use my Star Engines to move an additional 1+" so now it would be flatout cuz the total movement for the turn was 12+"?

No, the opposite. SMF requires you to move flat out in the movement phase, which you havent done
