Hey guys I am thinking I want to collect Tomb Kings. I know the new models and book come in may but does anyone know what models are safe to buy now? My local GW said that the Lord/Hero models and the Ushabti(sp?) were unlikely to change.
Cheers.

Usabti look nice but I can see them being done in plastic like minotaurs and trolls.
I would just wait until at least the models are on preorder before making any TK purchases.
And please tell me that you intend to buy online from a 3rd party. GW charges way too much in AUD.

I would *IMAGINE* that it's safe to go with the current skeletons, horses, and chariots. When the new book news came out, there was a kind of tacit agreement that the release somehow suggested the core units wouldn't get an upgrade, but reading that again, I don't see it. That said - there will be skeletons with pointy sticks and bows: that much we can count on.
I'd hold off on Ushbati, Carrion, Tomb Guard, and the doctoral engineering dissertation that is assembling a tomb scorpion or screaming skull catapult. I'd be surprised if most - or all - of those didn't get a plastic model.
Some people do complain that the old models are hard to assemble and are too fragile, but *I* think they look great when they're ranked up. I like them a lot better than the
"beefier" VC versions.

The GW guys said the core would probably be changed to a more VC style. The chariots I think if they change them with current GW business model will go from a three pack into a single. Cheers guys something to mull over hard to really decide without knowing what changes the new book will bring. BTW currently are Ushbati point effective? I love the look of the models while plastics are nice you loose some detail in the conversion.

I've had mixed luck with them. I've had them rip apart characters and monsters and utterly destroy units in one game, and do nothing the next. They're very susceptible to Lore of Light, unfortunately, and once they get hit with a successful banish, a pack of three goes up in smoke.
I'm hoping the price on them (monetarily) goes down, because I'd love to field more. In my twisted view, they make their points back just in looking badass.
