I've got some Death Company + Lemartes that I'm about to start painting. Whats the best way to bring out the detail in the black armor? I'm thinking a really light dry brush of ghostly grey but I'm not too sure at the moment.

You typically don't want to drybrush power armor, from what I hear. I have also heard that washing it with blue will add alot of shadowing to it (somehow). You could do really fine highlights on the edges of the trim, or wet blend the primary piece from black to dark grey.

Drybrushing power armor can look fine if you do it right. None of that fast rough sweeping over, you'll get too many unintentional lines on flat areas. Fine if you want it to look dirty or scratched, but you probably don't.

Use a nice big brush and focus on just the areas that should be highlighted, almost pull away from the model more than over it so that you just barely touch. A light gray should look great done this way. Definitely don't try white. It'll be too intense a contrast (and if any such thing as a white paint that doesn't look like snow when dry brushed exists I might just have a heart attack.)

Depends on how many layers you're thinking of doing.

Starting with Adeptus Battlegrey and going all the way to Fortress grey (or even skull white, both sparingly) will look nice IMHO.

I personally would avoid blueish greys... but if you do, I'd advise against such an extreme highlighting as going directly to ghostly grey.

This isn't for drybrushing, I'm thinking more of lining. Keep them lines thin, and remember that even if you based your miniatures with black spray, give them a thin coat of your choice of black. That way when you're correcting mistakes it won't look splotchy.
