So yeah, this is my first Nid list and I'm open to suggestions. Above all else, I want to keep things hordey as hell. None of that all deep striking, mycetic spore business. I want to COVER the table with bugs from the get go. My concern with this list is synapse. The Tervigon and his Termagants are objective sitters which means the only forward synapse I'll have is the lone Hive Tyrant. I've given him some pretty decent protection I think, but it worries me that all the opponent has to do is mass fire that one unit and then I'll probably be largely screwed by the lack of Fearless on the Hormagaunts.
The lash whips are on the Tyrant Guards as protection in close combat. And the Hive Guard are pretty self explanatory. Soooo, yeah. Any and all feedback is welcome.

looks fairly decent.
I would recommend dropping one of the sets of devourers and leaving the lash whip and bonesword. It's such a useful loadout. Plus devourers aren't the best weapon around.
And did you give your hormagaunts txin sacs to eat up points? You have 30 guys, with 2 attacks basic 3 on the charge, and you re-roll ones in your to hit rolls. Do you need poison? Furious Charge makes sense.
But it looks pretty decent.

I gave them toxin sacs so that they could tackle tough units. In conjunction with the adrenal glands, they allow for wounding re-rolls against T4 models which I think is pretty awesome. But you're right, it IS an expensive unit. I also wouldn't mind leaving the bone sword and lash whip on the Hive Tyrant, I just got the impression that everyone always gave it the two devourers for maximum shooting and that made sense to me. Does the Hive Tyrant kit even come with 2 devourers?

Well imo dakka tyrants are used when you arent sporitng around tyrant guard and have wings. Thats when you can really use the beast's arsenal. Also I think that a giant brood of 30 is a little tough to maneuver. You can split them up into 3 broods of 20 and they can still pack in numbers to survive shooting. Btw at 1.5k it looks like you lack a bit of anti AV14. You only have x2 MC

It's ok.
I would give the tyrant a lash whip and bonesword, it's just better. I'd also give the tervigon toxin sacs and adrenal glands, so the termagants it spaws will benefit from them. Both upgrades on the hormagaunts is interesting, they tend to be run with toxin sacs only, that way you can squeeze more in. Then again with both upgrades they can cause a hell of a lot of damage, and a very useful if you'll be facing some T4. However, I agree with kensin, you're lacking on the anti-tank. Dropping the adrenal glands on the hormagaunts would free up 120pts, just enough for 2 zoans, which are great anti-tank.

hmmm Tyrant needs Armoured shell, exchange the Regen for it. Tervigon replace Regen with Toxin and Adrenal glands so her babies get it to. aaaaand dumb down the Hormagaunts. Get a Trygon or 2 if possible

The Tyranids are like the great Hydra, remove one head, two more will sprout from it's neck equally deadly, they care not for plea for mercy, for they have no soul to care. All that is left in the void of their soul is a hunger, It is this, that the marines cannot kill...

The tyrant has guard so I don't think armoured shell is necessary.
However something I would do is change out the hormagaunts for 2 broods of 20 gargoyles. With adrenal and toxin they are cheaper than hormagaunts and are also faster. They also get more wounds onto high T or creatures since they have their caustic venom. If you do this you free up some points. Perhaps a large infiltrating genestealer brood to apply early pressure with the gargoyles close behind. Do remember to FnP the stealers though.
Good luck.

I used to run a similar list. Love the Hive Guard. Easily my favorite unit in the codex. It's like a brick with a chainsaw crossbow.

Wouldn't you get more broods and better synapse range by trading in the Tyrant and Guard for Warrior Primes? Not to mention they would get cover saves behind your Gaunts. Just a thought. (I don't have my codex on me at the moment so I could be wrong.)

Meh the list is alright, i would drop some hive guards for a zoey snot pod, lose the adrenal glands all togethor, then drop a brood of hormagaunts for gargoyls, then lose all those wasted points on regeneration and you're looking in much better shape.
Thanks, Dave_Nz
