There are some good play throughs out there though, one of the good ones I remeber is X's adventures in Minecraft. There was also another where they started near some cool cliffs with a lava fall flowing down onto his spawn point but I forgot the name. Funny though as it was the better one.
I've been too busy to play for about a week and to go through about the 10 pages i've missed in the video games thread but I think most Minecraft videos by CaptainSparklez are great, this has to be my favourite:

Errm, it's a sandbox game with no goal other then to do whatever the hell you want. if you want an idea of what it's like then check out the thread in the videogames sub forum. The 'Last Minecart' is a parody thingy and the video I posted was a mod made by a fan, not by Notch, and is a copy of Nazi Zombies. It's nothing like either of those videos.

You can build a bow and shoot arrows from it to defend yourself, but if that's all you're getting out of the game you probably aren't playing it very much...
