Hey all, I'm working on my first chaos land raider and confused about a couple of things.

1) which side hatch is correct for the sponsons? On the box it shows them on the back hatches but the instructions show them on the front hatches.

2) the instructions also say don't glue the doors or sponsons in. I am planning to magnetize the sponsons anyway, but how is GW suggesting these parts be held in place if not glue? Am I not understanding something?

gw wants you to buy more landraiders and not magnetize them, also the hatches doesnt really matter, put them in front if you want better range, rear if you want to disembark through the sides. disclaimer: i dont actually own a land raider, i play guard.

It does say somewhere it's left to your own personal preference, although I must admit I had never considered the points that Jordanis made.

Anyway, if you do want to magnetize it, my Land Raider Mag. Kit should be ready to go on Monday - I'll put up more info then.

I have 2 land raiders and both of those have the sponsons at the front.

Think about it from the point of view of the guys inside.. do you want to disembark in FRONT of the big guns, or BEHIND the big guns?

Logic is treason.

I like mine in the back. Disembarking 10 Berzerkers out of the front alone is no easy feat.

I put my short ranged sponsons (flamestorm, flamer, hurricane bolter) at the front, the others I put behind.

I've magnetized my sponsons by putting a "crossbar" across the middle of each door hatch (glued to the back side of the exterior frame). I put two magnets on each crossbar, and then two on the doors and sponsons. That way I can detach the sponsons for transport (the Land Raider fits neater into my foam as a square, and I have a slot for all of my Land Raider and Predator sponsons and weapons).

I prefer to put my sponsons on the forward hatch, since that gives me an extra 2 inches of range, not that it matters for 48" Lascannons.

I can provide pictures if anyone needs them.

My sponson mounts:

Redeemers at the front. Crusaders at the back.

But it doesnt really matter
