I'm working on a model for an orky stormraven, and i am trying to think of rules for it. what do you think of this?

Da Surly Burd Gunship

BS: 2, F: 12, S: 12, R: 10

Type: vehicle (fast, skimmer)

Transport: 12 models (or 1 walker unit)

Fire points: 1 at the front, 1 at each side, 1 at the back

Access points: 1 at the back, 1 at each side.

Weapons: tl deffguns (see lootas), 4 bigbomms (see deffkoptas)

options can take 1 big gun, same pts as battlewagon. can take up to 4 of the following, in any combination: bs, at 5 pts each, rokkit, at 10 pts each. may take anything else from the battlewagon entry except: killkannon, 'ard case, deff rolla, boarding plank, wreckin' ball, grabbin' claw, and reinforced ram.

special rules: deep strike, ramshackle, Don't press dat!

now, what should the points be? also, anything i need to add?

o come on. a Stormraven with a Deffrolla would be hilarious

seems nice for rules. although i would give it something similer to the Assault Vehicle rules.

I would price it at 150 points.

thank you for your input! i think that the assault vehicle rules would be a good idea: it wouldn't be much good without it!

lol. How are you planning on modeling it? Looted Stormraven? Scratch-built fighta-bomma? I envision a big magnet hanging off the bottom that serves as a "transport" for walkers and grabba klaw to latch onto enemy vehicles.

I'm thinking scratchbuilt. I say this because i don't feel like paying so much for something that will only be for friendly games, and then only when i feel like using it. i haven't even played a game yet, anyway!

Another person nicking the Stormraven... *sigh*

Oh well, at least with Orks it makes sense. I agree about 150 base, as it may be a gunship, but it's Orks... this could be funny.

Let there be BLOOD!

I carry with me an Inquisitorial Seal. It is a small, unassuming object contained in a neat box of Pluvian obsidian. It is a modest thing. Relatively plain, adorned with a single motif and a simple motto. Yet with this little object I can sign the death warrant of an entire world and consign a billion souls to Oblivion.

Yes.

I second the magnet idear. It could pick up a vehicle It passed over and pull it 1d6 inches along, and then drop it for 2 glancing hits or something.

And on the roll of a 1, the magnet is so powerful the Tank rips through the hull of the Ork-hawk and is sent airborne, the Ork-hawk/Surly Bird is counted as destroyed, but the vehicle suffers D3 Penetrating hits and is tossed as per DS rules...

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

Can I have a cookie with my internet, internets tend to be dehydrating, as does a tank setting your aircraft on fire... And putting a hole through it.

I can imagine this with a wrecker ball hanging off the bottom...wouldn't that suit orks?
and I reckon it can hold a mega-armoured model/deff dread/killa kan on the back.
and it should kareen!, but cause any model in its path to take an initiative test or take a S6 hit each.

Quoted from "The Defenestrator":
"Yes, I don't buy into the goody goody image the Tau PR machine has churned out . They're all dirty cold-blooded space-communists if you ask me! Besides, their shiny, selfless "we love everyone for the Greater Good" vibe is so unfitting for the "lulz we're all badass jerks" future of 40k. GW needs to play up their cold, calculating, "join us or die, and probably still die anyway" Borg-y style. That's just me of course."

I don't have a great understanding of Orks, I have played against them, but never read the book. I do, however, enjoy the visual image of crazy goggle wearing orks careening across the sky in Junk held together by duck-tape and bird droppings. Which is why I would imagine they should have rules such as the following, lets call it... "ere we go" or maybe "Uh boss, Iz gonna be sick"

Be it the ingenious piloting of the ork, or the insane lack of appropriate steering equipment, the ork transport never seems to fly in a straight line. In fact the transport never stops moving, continuously listing and jeering back and forth making it an exceedingly difficult vehicle to predict. The ork transports can manage unheard of speeds, dodging flak with ease, only to slam into the side of a mountain.

Unpredictable Flight Path: The ork transports erratic motion makes it exceedingly difficult to hit, giving it a +1 to cover, even if it has not moved. This can stack with the all out cover save to give a 3+ save. Additionally the Ork Transport will ALWAYS count as at least moving combat speed for the purpose of close combat attacks against it.

Random Flight Path: At the end of the Ork players movement (all movement and embarking - disembarking is complete), before shooting, move the transport using the following rules:
-Movement 0 - 6 inches. (combat speed and under) Move the transport d3 inches in a random direction
-Movement 6+ inches (cruising and Flat out) Move the transport d6 inches in a random direction
Random direction is determined by rolling the artillery dice. A target indicates that the pilot may choose to move up to the d6 inches in any direction they choose. When moving the transport, it maintains its ORIGINAL facing. Additional motion does NOT affect shooting. (If you moved cruising speed, but then compulsory moved 3 more inches, it will count as cruising for the purpose of which weapons may fire)
Should the transport contact another unit (friend or foe) follow the rules for Tank Shock, always use total distance traveled.
Should the transport contact impassible terrain, motion stops at the impact and follow the rules for tank shock against the transport only.
-due to the original facing it IS possible to impact on your own rear armor.

Upgrades like Giant Ork Chain Ball of Doom should be available, increasing Tank Shock Damage to other vehicles or even units it passes over or through.

Just some random ideas

I reckon you use normal stormraven AV, TL deffgun instead of AC's, TL rokkits/deffgun instead of LC's.
BS2
150-ish pts
all castitas' rules
kareen!
12 orks/6 in mega armour and deff dread/killa kan/deffkopta.

why have a deffkopta on a flying vehicle? They're orks, they dont care.
Think of it as a turret that can fly off seperately.
