Hullo all!
Over most of the last year or so I've been pretty absent from the
40k scene and by extension it's associated online forums. One reason has been a change in employment and with it my schedule. (I now work in my agency's parole division....so for the first time in almost two decades I'm not working in a prison...this is a good thing) But some of it has been that much of my wargaming energy has been devoted toward a major project: the Rhodesian Bush War of 1964-79 as a skirmish game.
The first step in this project was convincing Eureka miniatures to add a Rhodesian line via their "100 club" program. The results were great and the surge in pre-orders has caused them to design an entire range of figures for the conflict. Right now the line (which will be officially released soon) has 9 Rhodesian poses, 10 ZANLA/insurgent poses, with plans for future releases including at least one or two Grey's Scouts (the Rhodesian cavalry unit) models!
The big thing (and the one that took the most time in researching, writing, and testing) was the book. The Cliff's Notes version is that I wrote and got Iron Ivan Games to publish a supplement for their "Disposable Heroes" set of WW2 and Modern skirmish rules that covers the Bush War. The title of the book is "Man Among Men" (for obvious reasons!) and is due to be released this week.

It includes some basic backound material, platoon lists for the Rhodesians, both insurgent factions, as well as the regular Mozambique army, stats for dozens of weapons, vehicles, and aircraft, and sample scenarios and tips for gaming the war.
Over the past 15 years or so, I've had a couple of magazine articles published, but this is the first item close to being an actual book that I've had published, and I'm understandably excited about it. So I thought I would share my joy with you lot!
(of course the down side is that now all the "Trenchie haters" know my real name.....

Ah well. Can't be helped! )
