Just as the title says, I'm thinking about starting an IG army and want to give a look to the Elysians.

Thanks in advance,
Centurion.

I always carry three magazines. One to get me to cover. One to put up a spirited defense. And one to get me to where I left my weapon.

I believe the core of their rules are in volume 8.

Thank you. Is there an update or FAQ running about?

Go to the Forge World downloads page. There is a Q&A on Volume 8 there.

Elysians are also in Volume 3, IIRC.

Yes, but volume 3's Elysian list was ancient and is superseded by IA8's.

There is, however, a 'variant' Elysian list called Detachment 99 that is within Imperial Armour volume 4--and that should have a FAQ for it too.

IA 4 like Kan said. I particularly liked the fluff behind them, but then again I have been called eccentric before.

IA 3,4,8, and rumored yet again to be in 11

Like I said:
Discount IA3 at this point. All it's really good for is fluff.

And yeah. They're confirmed for IA11--alongside Cadians+Space Wolves.

IA8 Raid on Kastorel Novem is technically the only one with drop trooper's rules in it. It is a 5th Ed update.

IA4's list has an updated variant available somewhere on FW's site I think.

BrookM would know better.

IA 4 has been made obsolete as well, I've been told by their rules department to use the list found in IA8, "which allows for an army of veterans just like the D-99 list"

So yeah. On the one hand:

But on the other: new toys, updated rules and multi-functional veterans.

Really? Well that's dumb.

IA8 it is then!

Personally, I'd say still get IA3 and IA4 because of the background info found there. It's not much, but it's good stuff, especially the colour plates of the drop troopers found there. IA 3 has good info on squad and rank markings. IA 8 is just a decent up to date list with the latest toys and taking most of the good stuff from the IG codex. All in all it's an improvement, I'm only sad that my conversion projects have been swept aside by this. No more veteran special weapon squads that "count as" PJ's.
