Somewhere in the dark...

They seem to like a type of weather followed by a type of bird:

Thunder Hawk

Storm Raven

I vote the name for the next new flying machine should be:

Windy Pigeon

Plus: as of right now, almost every Space Marine aircraft name(Thunderhawk, Stormbird, Stormcrow, Stormraven) have tied in some way to the mythical Roc.

Which is actually pretty freakin' sweet.

Tau vehicles are named after sea creatures.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood.

Same with a Stormcrow.

I recall the "stormcrow" more from Battletech than 40k though (alongside the "Thor", "loki" and other quasi norse names).

Stormcrows and Stormbirds both are relatively new introductions, being in the Horus Heresy novels.

The Stormcrow has only been mentioned a few times, so I'm not certain if it's an actual, 100% different vehicle than the Stormbird or if it was just called a different designation by the Legion operating it.
