Spawn of Chaos

(this was brought up in another forum and needed its own space to flourish)
just to let you guys know, i also thought for a long time that MoK got applied to the whole model, and that my horsey got an extra attack. There is actually a paragraph in the book that points out that only the element with frenzy gets the +1 attack not he whole model.
"If either the rider or the mount have frenzy then the whole model is subject to beserker rage, but only the element with the Frenzy rule gains the extra attack." pg 82
My argument for the longest time was that the unit got MoK, and i think i was really trying to stretch it out to the horses.
thoughts?

The text of the MoK:
"A model with the Mark of Khorne is subject to frenzy." pg110, Chaos
My understanding of marauder horsemen and knights of chaos is that they are cavalry models. They aren't a rider model and a horse model.
As such, if a cavalry model is given frenzy, it's given to the whole model. This might be distinct from, say, dragons and other monsters where in many situations the rider and ridden can be considered two separate models on one base; for shooting, for instance.

This rule works just fine when it is clearly specified that either the mount or the rider has/gets frenzy, MoK however grants it to the entire model thus affecting both.

There have been several threads about this topic a number of times. the conclusion is always the same. On the cavalry model the rider and mount get the +1 attack.

As above. Given that the definition for a Cavalry (or any mounted model) states that BOTH parts of the model are part of the same model, then MoK applies to *both* parts.
You're wrong on this, sadly.

I agree with the above posters, the wording of MoK gives frenzy to both the rider and the mount.
People do get upset about it, but there were plenty of opportunities for GW to address this in the FAQ if they had wished to change it. So it seems that it's here to stay...

the Banner of Rage also gives it to the horses too as they are part of the "unit" with the banner.
Strangly, a Character that takes MoK and also takes a mount won't have his mount gain an extra attack unless he joins a unit with the Banner of Rage. Even stranger, Juggers don't have Frenzy(although they do have 2 attacks)

I, for one, am glad that you can't give your WS5 S5 killing blow mount an extra attack.
Super angry equines and spiteful raptors are bad enough.

UNless you have a MoK character riding a jugger in the unit with the Frenzy banner, of course
