I bought some Warmachine models and then after assembling them and mounting them on their base. I realized I should have primed them first.

Anyone know any way of getting around priming the base on accident?

So far all I can think of is some newspaper carefully placed around.

Pay'doh, or blue tac. Cover the base, prime, dispose the tac.

If you're reeeeally carefull, you can use masking tape.

I actually just used masking tape. And I decided to be a man about it and just prime them anyways.

I can paint the base.

I don't play Warmachine, but using Eldar Guardians as reference, I will glue the legs and torso to the base, prime everything, paint it all, then glue on arms/head/etc.

Since I use a rubble motif for my bases, it just makes sense to prime it with the model permanently affixed.

I've just started painting my guys separately from the bases by attaching them to some old bases turned over so it just the tips of the feet touch. This lets me heavily prime the bases separately so the paint can help affix the basing material to the base.
