Great Escape Games of Sacremento has all 90 slots filled (wtf thats more than gamesday 2006) and 13-14 on a waitlist. I know 40k is well known but thats mindblowing! Oh well, guess my army goes back to the shelf for another 2 months :(

Yep, sold out again. And with a Sportsmanship and comp scoring system.

There is room for every type of event. And I've noticed this year that most events are better attended than last year. Seems to be the case so far this year anyway.

Yeah I live 30 minutes away but the Comp score has kept me away from this tourney for some time.

I live about an hour away. Its not the comp score that keeps me away but some funny, good old boy paint judging and tourney scoring that makes me hesitate. Might give it one more go.

40K is huge in Northern California. At our local game store our monthly tournament usually has 10 to 14 people. We are a small community.

Another thing is in California we like to drive. I have no problem driving 3 hours to a tournament. That gives us a 200 mile radius o get to games.

veritechc, that is a serious allegation that I strongly disagree with. The store owner and myself are the head judges, and if there is an appearance of favoritism then I am unaware of it and I apologize for it. I personally promise you that as a 40k player of over 25 years and a tournament goer of more than 10 years, I try to be as impartial as possible in my judging and I am aware that the top spots in our bimonthly tournament are very hotly contested.

I implore you to give us another chance. We have made and will continue to make refinements to the rules. Comp has always been the subject of much discussion and distress, and this year's version is widely hailed as fair and reasonable by people on both sides of the issue.

The 40K Contest of Champions is held every other month (Jan/Mar/May/Jul/Sep/Nov) opposite the Fantasy CoC. Details can be found at www.greatescapegames.com. It fills up fast, so if you would like a spot in the next CoC and can't make it down feel free to call the store at 916.927.0810.

Thank you for you answer. Perhaps I should have worded it the APPARENT of good old boy judging. I called in and complained to the owner many months ago about that one instance. I did not mean to imply that anyone was knowingly being unfair.

I have to say that after talking to the owner I was impressed with him and his entire organization. You will see me, my some and some of the Brotherhood of Mutants back at your tournament for another try.

Sounds like you will soon need to rent more space for this tournament as it is ridiculously popular. That speaks volumes about your organization.

I feel that they are trying to give the locals an advantage with pre registering for the next tournament as I got a feeling the phones will be busy as or just not being answered the day of the tournament (March 26) since thats when the next sign up is for the next COC will occur but Im not giving up if I have to wait all day to yell at the TO to sign me up for next event even if I have to put a bolter to his head.

The reason we encourage pre-registration has nothing to do with locals, it is because we want to know ahead of time how many people we are having. We have previously had upwards of 20 people show up unannounced and it really makes it difficult to put tables and terrain together at the last minute while people are waiting.

On the day of the tournament, the storefront will be staffed normally and I promise we'll be able to answer the phone like normal. You can call us to register and pay over the phone with a credit card if you cant make it in to the store. We advertise the date and population cap well in advance.

Tell you what, send me an email at dogstar34@gmail.com with your name and army and I will make sure you get on the list for the next tournament. You will still have to pay the $15 registration at some point to secure your spot, but like I said you can do that over the phone with a card. The sooner the better, we only have so much space.

hmm I called and talked to an employee working and he said I had to come in to pay and said I couldnt pay over the phone because he need my id?.......So should I road trip from Concord all the way to Sactown just to swipe a card the day of this months tournament?
